Location: Vancouver Island, BC | A recent O purchase (dam' pawn shops) came with an original brown case, probably mid '70s.
Nice shape other than rust on the latches, but the carry handle is missing.
If you have one to spare, please let me know.
I'm in SoCal for a couple of months, so lower 48 shipping

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Maybe not surprisingly this is one of the rarest parts to find. The plastic they were made from just didn't stand the test of time. Searching online you should find something that fits and if you do find a source, please let us all know. I have at least 5 cases that could use new handles. |

Obviously a lost cause...
StuMac offers a black one, and I will get the dimentions, otherwise I'll make one out of wood. I have some nice chunks of teak kicking around, and the hinges are still undamaged on the case.
Wish me luck... |

Location: Boise, Idaho | Look at a luggage place, instead of a guitar case place. A luggage repair place would have suitcase or briefcase handles that should fit and I'll bet you could find a brown one. At least you'd be more likely to find a brown suitcase or briefcase than a brown guitar case.
Try hardwareElf.com., which was my first hit on a google search for replacement handle for brown luggage.

Location: Jet City | +1 on Mark's comment. I've done the research in the past for my Gibson V case, and a luggage repair place is the place to work with. Also, all of my cases for acoustics have black handles, even the brown ones. I have a few different eras too. The only cases I have with brown are electrics (Preacher, UKII, Viper, etc)

Location: Vancouver Island, BC | Sorry for the late response. Some wifi issues in a place we are renting.
Thank you all for very good useful info. Man, it's hard to carry these things without a handle!
Stumac has a min order of $30, and I don't need much at the moment,
so Hector, maybe I can lean on you.
PM to follow. |

Location: Brisbane Australia | I bought a brown handle to try as a replacement for one of my cases some time ago on US Ebay.
Came with pins and mounts but I just used the handle, worked great.
Thanks for the reminder, I need a few more myself.
From memory they had black ones in the same size as well.
I'm away for a few days, I'll check where I got it when I get back.

My handle is in the mail, and hopefully others can use the information in this thread also.
I will make a donation to the club. |

Location: Vancouver Island, BC | The StuMac handle turned out great.Plastic/stiched leather look-alike. Black. $4.00. Problem: you need 8 to meet the min order of $30!
Needed some other stuff, the old folklore gets new tuners.....
Fit onto the old hinges after pulling out the pins. The supplied hinges look like a straight replacement for the (much) later cases, but they are riveted on to the case, not fastened with screwslike the old ones.
Hector, I thank you again for the generous loan. I'll have it in tha mail shortly. |
