I hope someone here wins! |

The wear doesn't appear to be much more than on the surface. It looks like the individual didn't oil the fret board. I'd ask for som close-up pics of that area.
I have to say that if I had to part with every guitar I have ever owned but one, the 1537 would be the ONE that I would keep. I'm down to three guitars in the stable as it is, but the 1537 is staying for good. It has everything I could want in sound and playability, and the look is downright exquisite. I really like it with Paul's amber buttons on it. Speaking of tuner buttons... Has anyone ever seen any made in a cobalt blue? I'd like a set on my 1581. |

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | The fingerboard may not be that bad. If it's just cosmetic or a little more than that, I wouldn't even worry about it. If it were worse you could have the divots filled as opposed to sanding.
I have an all-original but well played 1962 Stratocaster on which the fret-board was worn pretty badly and I just had it filled and it works just fine. This method retains the original radius and profile of the neck as well.

Looks nice, in reference to one of the other threads, the serial number in the description doesn't match the photos. 3 bids on it now, wonder if there was a Buy-it-now price on it and what it was. |

And just joined as a seller with 0 feedback. Says she's selling off hubby's Ovation collection. Whatever the pic shows is the actual serial#. There are several more Os under her name. She said he had put a label with a serial# on each case, so it must've been switched up. The pictures are all taken at the same place, that's a good sign. |

yeah at first I was thinking it was a scam, too. The 1537 description is copied word for word from the ebay listing at the top of this thread. But then I noticed the pics were all taken together, and none of them show up on tineye.com so they probably aren't stolen pics. Probably just a noob. |

Location: Central Massachusetts | Well, I out-sniped the sniper and picked up the first 1537 mentioned above. A quick stop here and then I expect it'll be off to the spa for a refret and some fretboard revitalization.
Best of luck for anybody chasing that second one! That one's going to be ready to play right out of the box. Will it go for more or less than this one did?
And thanks again, Vince, for the heads-up! |
