| Thanks for developing this site. I own 3 Ovations and enjoy (enjoyed) all 3 ....until recently....
[BTW your new member welcome links are not working right...first - the one to send the user to read the terms of use/rules links to the "privacy" page, which is the same content as the "manifesto" page - albeit different addresses].
On to the question:
While playing on a nice deck overlooking a pond, a wave of mosquitoes swarmed over us...everyone headed for the house. Thinking I could move more quickly and wouldn't have to pack and unpack my guitar, I put the guitar strap around my neck, bent over and locked the case and turned to head for the house as well...
Alas, the strap gave way and my Standard Elite 6858 (super shallow) swung down toward the deck. Having my hands full, I could only react - so I pulled up on the strap hoping to keep the guitar from hitting the deck. Unfortunately - not quite fast enough - this allowed the very end of the head stock to strike the deck (probably with more force than had I done nothing), thereby breaking the headstock clean off...
Bummer.
I would like to save her and have noticed distressed Ovations being sold on Ebay - some with perfectly fine necks...but beat up bodies.
1. Is there a source/document to determine which necks might be interchangeable with my guitar?
2. Is the neck assembly available for purchase anywhere? I couldn't find one.
3. Where would one go for professional repair and is it worth it?
Thanks! |
