Hello all ~
I found a 1758 on eBay, but the auction ended (no bids!) before I had the funding to pull the trigger. Since there were no bids, I contacted the seller, who replied that he could afford to wait for me and when funding arrived I could make a private PayPal offer.

I've done the auction thing a few times, but this is my first private transaction using PayPal. Is there a protocol I should be aware of? Perhaps I could just request a "buy it now" on eBay...

Any suggestions would be welcome!

You will basically send the Seller the amount asked and place info in the notes/remarks section that say something like "Ovation 1758 with case shipping included" and that marks what your "contract" is for.
this would be a non-ebay sale but within the agreements of PayPal.

99.99% of the time people do what they said they'd do and you have a good transaction. Using the note portion backs up your story that you paid but didn't receive a specific something if things go wrong.

I still choose to trust people but you need to keep your eyes open for possible scams.

You need to repost this in the General area so others can contribute.

Howdy Misfit,

Your membership has been updated so feel free to ask around (Though I think the M-ster answered pretty well)

Good luck on the purchase and welcome to the club.

Thanks to both of you. I think that told me what I needed to know, MWoody, much appreciated!

As it turns out, I'm not gonna pull the trigger on this one, although I would love to have a 1758. I think I'll save the money toward building an addition behind my shop that will become a music studio :-)
