I grabbed a 15 foot cable for $8 and saw this...
7 Guitars that were ahead of their time
Ovations are #3.
Makes me wonder what people at Fender are thinking.
That Anniversary is a Good Grab.

| it does have a few knicks and some finish checks. I will probably need to re-fret the first 4 eventually. Re-strung it up and it sounds like I remember! |

The article seems to focus on electronics and wasn't too accurate, but at least it was interesting. I thought there were several other Ovation innovations that were ahead of their time, like the bowl, the Academy, the UKII and the aluminum/urelite neck on the Matrix. I don't know much about guitars, but Ovation seems to be the most innovative guitar manufacturer that existed.
Edit: Back on topic, the 1157/1657, Patriot or "John Lennon" guitars are missing from my collection and I really ought to have one of those. Still miss my Patriot after selling it in 2010, during a phase where I thought I had too many guitars and thinned the herd a bit, only to expand it later. I found a 1657 on the Seattle Craigslist for $300, but a close up disclosed a huge crack down the middle of the top.
