Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I know this isn't an Ovation, But what is it?
It has six toggle switches, and four knobbie-thingies.
The furthest knob clicks a little red LED(?) light on... then continues to turn something up.
I'm guessing there is a battery under that square plate in the back.
Nothing happens when it is plugged-in, so I assume something is broken, besides some stings.
It is a leftie, and someone tried to restring it rightie, and gave up.
Under the tremelo-springs in the back there is some kind of solid foam, so I will have to take-off the pick-guard to see any wiring and stuff, and look for loose connections.
Kind of a major project, remove the strings and everything.
I know this is a non-O question, but you's guys are the smartest guitar people I know!
This was left at one of the properties that I work at, and a friend passed it to me,
Cuz I am the smartest guitar person he knows! :p
[Dude obviously needs to get out more!]
So I thought that I would ask if anyone knows what I have here...
So I can have a clue before I open it up and start messing with it.
Educate Me Please!
Oh, I don't think that it is really a Fender, cuz it don't say so on the headstock or neck-heel-plate, and it has no truss-rod adjustment. |

Have you taken the neck off to see if there are any identifiers there?
I suspect that is where the truss rod adjustment will be as well.
Pics of the headstock?
Could be an interesting find

Location: CA | Does it actually say 'Fender Stratocaster' on the headstock? 'Made in USA'? Do the tuners have little 'F's on them? Serial number? Maybe you could get through the back door at Fender to find more about it that way. Hard to tell from small pics, but looks kinda like a 'home personalized' job, if it's a Fender at all. God knows how the thing must be wired. |

Maybe my car fender. |

| It looks like someone had it built, or it's an extensive retro-fit. 4 knobs, 6 toggles, and how many slides are there?...Maybe a combination passive/actice system?... |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I lifted the hood, and all the spark-plug wires seem attached. It has a stereo 1/4" jack, so I am gonna pick me up a stereo/mono adapter. But I should have gotten some noise outta it with a straight plug.
Three of the knobs are individual volume controls.
Three of the switches are pick-up on/off.
Until I plug-it-in and get noise, I cannot tell what the other switches do, I'm guessing that the other knob is just a main gain.
We'll see after a trip to Apple Music. |
