Location: Montreal | Hi:
I'm looking for an acoustic amp that I can play around with.
Something from 30 to 50 watts would be fine for experimenting with and playing in pubs with every now and then.
I want something reliable but at the same time won't bankrupt me.
Any suggestions? What about the amps with FX? For guitars such as I have (Ovation 1657, Ovation 1618, Larrivee L0-912 - Guild D55), with preamps, is there a big. diff between an acoustis amp and a combo?
I'd appreciate youir advice.

I was gonna jump on one but I am also looking at the Shen Stereo 200 (not that I need it, I am just a gear slutz!) |

Location: Chicago | I have been VERY happy with my Fishman Loudbox 100. It is probably the most amazing ratio of weight to power and value. 24 lbs. and 100 watts. Excellent reverb, decent chorus. Feedback control too.... But it is hard to find one under 500. |

I think you want something under 50 LBS.
You can get a self powered PA that'll work pretty well, lots of them to consider and you can combine them with something like an Alesis 6fx mixer and be very happy.
Yamaha makes some nice self powered PAs, just look 'em up.
If you don't go the PA route then get one of those Acoustisonic Fenders. Also, you might want to consider some piano and bass combos, which would work too. The Phil Jones AAD CUB 100 is top notch.
There's a whole to explore with this stuff.
Good luck |

This one might work:

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Not sure what amount you have in mind, Jeff, but a good entry level acoustic amp is the Genz Bend Shenendoah Jr. Al had them new for about cost last year. I have an assortment of acoustic and non-accoustic amps and the AAD Cub is great and convenient (I'm now using it almost exclusively as a gig monitor), but it is probably twice what a Genz Jr. or base level Acousasonic Jr. might cost you. For between $200 and $300, you can find a good basic acoustic amp that should satisfy you for years, or until G.A.S. sets in. |
