| Hi all, I am new here so I thought I would post a picture of my new Ovation. I found this yesterday in a pawn shop. It is an Ovation Matrix 1132-4 from around 1976 or so. Anyone have any thought or opinions on these guitars?
Let me know, it plays and sounds great with almost no fret wear. ironwood

Location: Tuscany, Italy | I like these guitars. I have one with rosewood fretboard (a later model) straight acoustic natural finish like yours. I have it always at my hand. Despite they have laminate top they are very resonant, plays great and with a nice tone to it. Congrats.!!
PS : this is mine

| Thanks!
How about that aluminum fret board. They must have had some left over from making helicopters at Sikorsky!
I love these guitars! |

Location: Boise, Idaho | My first Ovation. Mine's a 1976, bought new in 1977. Mine has a different binding, W-B-W-B-W, striped, not the checked one you have. Yours' must be later. Mine has the oval, silver Ovation label. I wish I had the original case like yours. Mine came with a cardboard case that is shot. One thing I noticed with the aluminum fretboard is the strings seem to squeek more than with wood fretboards. The fretboard and neck was a great idea that could be replaced for about $30 when the frets wore out. Of course, they quit making them, so the only way to replace them is if you found a good neck and fretboard used. It's not likely you'd ever find one in as good a shape. I thought mine was the only one without cracks in the soundboard. |
