Ok, it was the US Embassy in Canberra, Australia, but technically it is US soil.

My musical partner is a US citizen working at the embassy and she got us a gig at their staff christmas party, which was on yesterday afternoon.

It went well and was a lot of fun.

Congratulations. If it was a paying gig, you've got one more than I have on any soil.

Thanks guys. It wasn't a paid gig, but it was fun nevertheless.

A few beers and some food and I was happy!

We did a few Aussie songs, which were well received, but the most applause came when we did a John Prine song 'Grandpa Was a Carpenter' - a song I love.

Did they check your guitar case for weapons?

They sure did. I don't blame them, after all us Aussies are not all that trustworthy coming from convict stock as we do.

I think they were hoping that I was smuggling Tim Tams in.
