Location: Canada | As I read though sonme of the older and for sale threads it is apparent that some of the members here had the privilege of owning relatively large numbers of sometimes high-end guitars. I am a humble hobby player who only owns six (two electric, four acoustic, never sold one), none of them in the high-end range, and am only actively using my 6756LX right now. So for those who have or had a "stable" of guitars which ones are the best acoustics you have ever owned or still own? Maybe for diversity sakes list the "best" ever strumming/best finger picking/ and favourite every day use guitars... |

Location: Germany, where delicious wine is growing (Rheinh) | The best sounding acoustic I have is my W681TA for every thing, the best for picking is the 1680 and for stumming the 2010C. My every day favourite is the UTE!

Location: Utah | I am not in any kind of exclusive club of high end guitar owners. I can't comment on custom or high end wood box guitars, but I have played a number of O's and A's, including some rare ones.
The original slothead #43 vibrates like nothing I've ever experienced. This one stands alone. The owner graciously allowed me to play it at an OFC get together.
I found the wood topped Adamas to be perhaps slightly better sounding than my 2007 Collector's guitar. Both are the modern LX design, though the WT had a suspension ring. It is tough to beat the modern LX guitars for quality and sound, but I found the '07C and the WT to be the best of this line that I have played or owned.
My Ovation Patriot from 1976 is essentially an A braced legend. There is something about this guitar which really appeals to me. Maybe it is a bit more organic and a little less perfect than the LX or Adamas guitars. For every day playing this is one I pick up frequently. I'd hate to have to choose to keep only one acoustic, but if I had to it might be this one. |

Of all my guitars: My Martin OM Jeff Daniels, Adirondack/Madagascar, followed by my Santa Cruz OM Sitka/Ziricote. Both are very versatile and perfect all around guitars. For straight fingerpicking I'd choose my 00-42 Sitka/Cocobolo, for strumming purposes my D-45 Standard. |

Location: Colorado | To me the best sounding guitar always came back to the one Phil Keaggy was playing at the time, and I've heard him play Olson's to Beaters.
Thanks for the nod to #43 FlySig...in the words of Lester Roadhog Moran..."It's a goodun". If you fly through Denver...its always available to play.
And to D'Ovation...always beware the person who owns just one guitar...they probably know how to play it.

Location: Boise, Idaho | Too many best for this or best for that possibilities, but my ultimate guitar has to be the OFC 1. Only 12 made after a lot of work by Al to get them made during the height of the OFC. I was a newbie that just had the good fortune to have a birthday when there was one left. Almost 30 years between new guitars and quite a difference between a new Matrix in 1977 and the OFC. |

I'm with Jm, just grateful for what I have. 6 string, either my 87C or 30th CL. 12 string, Adamas I. Close runner up, 1537 and OFC I.
My G.A.S. is pretty well gone. I'm just thrilled to have what I have. |

But my GAS still flares up, and now remains pretty much frustrated. There are a couple of Ovations and a Martin or two that I hope to someday track down, and alas, I had a few more custom ideas that will now never be built, but I am grateful; grateful for the internet coming along just in time for me to use it to figure out how to build a collection I only dreamed about for a very, very long time. |

Missed opportunities are difficult to live with. These days, I'm playing out more and while I can't play them all, what I do play allows me to feel like I am getting my money's worth in return value. |

I'm also grateful for the opportunity to meet many of you and have some regrets that I may not have the opportunity to meet more of you. I may not have the ultimate guitar, but it's been nice to be a part of the ultimate guitar forum. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I was trying to bait Cliff into a response, but that was futile. I didn't get in until 2005. Wow, 10 years ago. Things were a bit scary at first, but it was fun at least trying to trade barbs with some real masters. At the risk of Brad accusing me of sucking up again, I have to say that I never thought it would be so much fun learning about guitars and other stuff that was sometimes related to guitars.
And Slipkid, if you ever do come out to go skiing, you have to pay for your own lift ticket, buy my dinner and ride in the Honda instead of the Porsche. You can still stay at the cabin, but you'll have to shovel snow. My arm hurts from shoveling the 40 inches of powder we got over the holidays. Suck up to that. Now I'm going to find that picture of you in your ski clothes next to the Gremlin and figure out how to post it. |
