Location: Muenster/Germany | If you put an humidifier in an Ovation body only the wooden top surface will absorb the humidity. I can imagine that a very moist climate may develop inside. Does this not affect the high-tech electronics inside of the guitar? I would not store an amplifier in a laundry. What do the experts say? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | The humidifier should not be soaking-wet.
It should just increase the humidity inside the guitar case to an acceptable level.
So it shouldn't be any more damp than a normal day in San Francisco... or London.
It shouldn't be truly damp inside the guitar body, that ain't good for it either.
It is supposed to be around 50% relative humidity for maintenance.
Depending on which preamp that we are talking about...
Newer preamps are solid state so high humidity shouldn't hurt it.
But I am just speculating.

Location: Muenster/Germany | I keep my guitars in a room with controlled humidity, air humidifier in winter, air dryer in summer, only was curious...But I´m so stupid, I could have tested it myself with a hygrometer in one of my guitars...ok, I will find out what´s all about the wheather inside an Ovation and post it here later;-) |

Location: Canada | I use a sponge-in-ziploc in one of the guitars which does not get played at all, and the (new) strings looked pretty corroded after a few months, so I assume that other metal parts may also be affected. I don't know if the pre-amp also got affected as I never plugged it in. |
