I'm sure Alex wasn't trying to be rude. The pics actually say a lot about the guitar.

The headstock is attached to the neck. Ovation never sold a guitar with a headstock that looked like that, so the neck is not Ovation.

Ovation only ever produced three bowl shapes: the original bowl, the parlor and the contour bowl. The different depths of the various bowls (deep, medium, shallow, super-shallow) are the same bowl that are cut off to produce bowls of differing depths, but all share the same basic shape. The parlor was only used on the 1997 collectors. The contour is a variation on the original bowl.

Since the shape of the bowl on your guitar is fairly flat, it's not an Ovation bowl.

Since it's not an Ovation neck and it's not an Ovation bowl, it's not an Ovation.

Jude - wow how can you tell just by the pics

What Dan said.

Also, I've never seen any model O with soundholes done like that either.

It certainly is ornate. Personally I'm not into the bird inlays, but as they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," and as long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters!!

Hi Judy,

No offense taken.

A lot of the folks here have owned almost all of the different models of Ovations over the years and are very familiar with what they produced.

As was written, the brand doesn't really matter. What's important is that you like it.

I originally came to this forum because I couldn't tell the difference between all the different Ovation models, much less Ovation knockoffs. A lot had changed since I bought my first Ovation in 1977.

Spend enough time with something, you know what it looks like...and what it does not look like.
