Location: South Jersey | Hello everyone! My names Andrew, I'm 20 years old and I've been playing guitar for about four years now, I wrote a research paper about Ovation Guitars my junior year in highschool, since then I've been in absolute love with Ovations, I joined the Army right out of highschool, thanks to Uncle Sam and my wonderful fiancée I've been able to purchase quite a few Ovations. I own an Elite Baritone Long-Neck, his names Bari, I believe he was made in 1994-1995ish, I have a standard Elite 1718 made in 1988, her names Matilda, I have a 12 string Balladeer made in 1972, her name is Melissa, and I just purchased the 10th Anniversary 1157-7, those four are my American made, I have a Tangent, a CC44, an Elite TX, an Applause classical, and an Idea, now that's probably enough of me going on about my guitars I own. Thank you for bearing with me!!
I recently purchased the anniversary from a guy off Craigslist, I paid 275 which is very reasonable given the work I have to put into it. I'm about halfway through the process of fixing it. So here the low down on what I've had to do to it. It had multible finish cracks, ie checkings in the finish. I have a clinical case of OCD so of course I had to fix these, so what I decided to do was take THE ENTIRE finish off this guitar, this was a huge pain in the *** if anyone's familiar with taking off a finish. However I don't back down from a challenge, I've got most of it off, like most of you know Ovation's have the thickest finish on any guitars out there, so a can of lacquer remover later I've just about got it all off. The sound hole cover was also coming off so I just removed it and I'll reglue it back with liquid nails later I refinish the guitar. My model did not come with electronics so I've taken the steps to install an L.R. BAGGS dual source pre-amp, it has the under saddle pre-amp and a mic for more clarity, granted it makes me sad that it won't have an Ovation pre-amp, I'm gonna upload a whole bunch of pictures of my project, I'd love to hear other stories about other repair jobs and stuff! Thanks guys!! | |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | The simple way to post photos is to just post a link to them on some other site.
So, if you post them on Photobucket you can just post the link to them here.
Be sure that the photos are "public".
