This Sunday (June 28th), the award-winning documentary, Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me, will make its television debut at 9PM ET on CNN. Ashley Campbell talked about the film’s significance.

“It’s a great way to get the message out there,” Campbell’s daughter, Ashley Campbell, tells Rolling Stone Country of I’ll Be Me. “The film is definitely not what you think of when you think of a documentary about Alzheimer’s. I think the beauty of it is that my dad is such a personable person. He’s so charismatic and funny and just real, and it really shines through in this film. He puts a real human face on this disease that a lot of people are dealing with that we don’t really hear about it a lot in the media. That’s the conversation we’re hoping to start, that it’s real and it happens to people we love and that we need to personalize it.”

Having seen it...it is worth the watch...but it is as sad as it is enlightening...Kim and the kids and TJ did an unbelievable job pulling that tour off.

Just a hint of the difficult times is seen here...and this is early in the  tour...

Caution:   DaveKel, you might be in violation of the court order, as Ashley is on this clip.

Paul...that black CL you spoke of makes an appearance....

Beautiful presentation of a difficult subject. Really loved seeing all the Ovation an Adamas guitars. Glad to have seen him perform a number of times and to have met him personally. What a great ambassador for the brand.

Very courageous, & an amazing spirit. Still can play, too! I'm glad this documentary was done. Alzheimer's changes your history. Nothing else does, & you are your memories.
So, was that an OSH he was playing on the bus, with his daughter?

Thought you guys might be interested what Carol Kaye had to say on FB...(btw, if you havent seen "The Wrecking Crew" you're missing out)

Carol Kaye II

Glen Campbell. I just saw the whole film about Glen Campbell.....gathering my thoughts together...I do salute Glen's Family for supporting Glen sooo much dur...ing this difficult time, sooo very sad....but some of what Glen was going through, I recognize, he was totally in-touch with his Musicianship - you don't forget that....it's like forgetting how to breathe.......

He like so many others, lives through his music....and I saw so much from his great sense of humor too and could have reached out to kid back with him, it's musician-humor......more on this later on. I don't know how that Family made it through that important tour....special people! Love to Glen always......

PS. I knew Glen very well at that 1960s time, he gave my housekeeper a thrill when he had to come over special to get my Dano to use on Galveston solo he overdubbed.....he had asked me for my Dano, and told him "you have to get it yourself, I didn't bring it" on our tracking date of that......my housekeeper was so THRILLED!

We had a lot of great laugh-times together on our dates, he used to sit next to me....toward the end of his Studio Musician career, as arrangers were writing more and more parts out for him (he was the "SOLO" specialist, not a sightreader, but could read chord charts just fine)....he'd lean over and ask me "Carol how does this part go, hum it to me"......I'd hum it to him and he'd play it perfectly then, knowing every note well with just 1x.......but parts got harder and harder to read....and then we all worked for HIM!! smile emoticon

He went down fast after we saw him in Phoenix. I am so glad that happened to work out. This was a great film and I'm thankful to Glen and his family for doing it. It was tough to watch at times. It made me realize what my dad is going through with my mom. He says we kids see her at her best, although she is progressing at a much slower rate than Glen did. It's a very tough and sad disease to deal with. His family is very courageous.

My heart and eyes both swelled up a little throughout the show.

What was sad for me was to see how far gone he has become at such a relatively young age.

Just watched this today. I was pretty much a weepy mess from as soon as I heard the Classical Gas riff in the opening credits. I can't imagine the toll it's taken on those who did the tour. It's one thing to care for someone, it's another to get on stage with them every night. Daughter Ashley should be up for sainthood.
