Location: Flahdaw | How about a thread where you post early shots of you playing guitar. Here's me and my first duo partner playing at a fantastic club in Gainesville Florida while attending the Univ of Fla, 1976. Yikes...40 years ago. The Great Southern Music Hall was the premier performance hall back then, and famous acts from all over played there. I normally played solo downstairs in the Wine Cellar, occasionally upstairs at the Backstage Bar, but certainly never made it to the "big stage". Sadly, the place closed down many years ago. I'm on the right, playing a vintage Gibson

Circa 1978-79 First jam with my Uncle Paul (we would have many more over the years). he taught all his nephews how to play and passed away far too young about 20 years ago. My Aunt gave me his old mandolin a while back, the one I'm playing in the pic, just had it all fixed up good as new by a luthier friend.

. . Oh well ... after 6 or so tries on something I've done many times before, photobucket is just not co-operating. Guess it was just not meant to be.

Going back through some old pics and, for some unGODly reason, almost every pic of me with a guitar in my hands has me in a leisure suit. Shirt collars that I could almost trip over and colors that Crayola would be ashamed of. I'm quite sure that Barnum & Bailey would have turned me away for being "too loud".
And, no. No way. Ain't gonna happen no how so let's keep the crowd moving. There's nothing more to see here...

And I do a pretty reasonable finger-style version of If You Could Read My Mind.
Problem is nowadays all my hair is white, well what's left

Ok, just because everyone else is too, but we were camping at a lake up north, no electricity (remember how all important that hairdryer was???), no make up, and had I known Vicki was taking this picture, she would have ended up in the lake. I was always very camera shy.

Thanks Nancy.
All you need when camping is a guitar and plenty of beer. Electric hairdryers are not required. |

You should see him NOW. Last time he went to the beach, the Bigfoot Hunters were alerted. |
