This event is FREE but by Invitation/Registration ONLY to the first 50 Ovation FanClub(tm) members to sign up. The event will include a small performance from Kevin Cronin and members of REO Speedwagon, a commendation for Ovation from the State, and more. This event goes public with a press release shortly, so if you can go, you better sign up, because attendance will be limited to those who register.
This event is limited in size but, Ovation Guitars wanted those of us who can make it to be there as a Thank You from them so we have received the above link before the official release.

....lucky you Americans are.... said so before.
Great thing they chose the Elite style to come up with the first run. That's typically Ovation (and Adamas of course). You see the epaulets and you know what you get.

What red-twins & marenostrum said. I think I'll send some flowers...I know they're gonna be way out of my price range, but I can't wait to see the 50th in our local music stores...I wonder how many will be coming across the Pacific?

I'm in. Ticket printed. Plus I'm getting a new-to-me guitar tomorrow, that I'll be bringing up to JB (more about that tomorrow after I pick it up). So it's like a free trip. See you all there!

I added the OvationFanClub Facebook feed to the home page at www.ovationfanclub.com. I will be posting photos and video from the event to that page.
We usually have the feed from Ovation Guitars in that spot, but as most members will be unable to attend obviously, and many also don't actually have a Facebook account, this will be a way to get highlights to the masses. I encourage anyone who attends to share and upload photos and videos to that feed. #OvationCelebration

Thanks for that and for mentioning it. I just realised how very seldom I check the index page for news, but go directly to new posts on the forum.

I'll be there in spirit.
You guys need to test drive that new in house pub.
.
I'm hoping there might be some kind of fiftieth anniversary party sometime / somewhere this year.

I gave it some thought and even checked on flights. Only $379 Boise to Hartford round trip, but I'd have to leave Saturday and still get from Hartford to New Hartford and 3 nights' lodging. Guess I'll save the money for another guitar. Best wishes to everyone at the party.

Mark... that's seems like a great price for a flight.
Detroit to Bozeman cost me almost twice that a month ago.
As l recall flying into New England has never been cheap.

I snoozed, I loozed. Now I can't find anything for under $600. I'll just look forward to your reports, especially about the new guitar.
For the future Ovation Fan Club Factory Tour, though, it looks like I could get a round trip flight on United for $398 if I book far enough in advance.

Well talk about snooze you loose, all the tickets are gone. Even though this post was at the top I don't always look at the announcements and only just noticed it this morning.
Bummer, my guitar is in their shop and I might even have to be heading up there by then anyway.

Though it's nice to know that there is enough active membership to fill the available spots so quickly, which according to the low posting volume each day I did not take for granted. Would have been sad if they did not go quickly.

Soooo.....
The event is scheduled from 1-2:30 PM. I'll drive over for the day, and I'm sure it will be great.
But I can't help but wonder, is anything else going on while we're there?
Me too. I'm travelling with someone and we're coming in essentially just for the events. But I think it's gonna be worth it to see, and to see some of the folks from here that I haven't seen many years... Meet a few new friends too.

I'll drive over Monday morning and stay for the day. Should I bring an instrment or two.....or 12. If so, does anyone have a preference for which ones ride along with me?

I would love to go but i may be too late, says there are no tickets left.
If you are in the Neighborhood you could just show-up.
The "actual event" is 1:00-2:30 but there will still be fun-n-friendship after that.
You should go.

Damon, can you take a photo shot of that custom shop sign square on? I have a source that can add silk screen images to metal signs from a hi res jpg, assuming XRaiderman Bill would have no objection. The signs would, or course, be for personal use only.

As it turns out, work sent me to E HARTFORD for the week and I arrived this am. It's really too bad I can't make the tour. I may head over to the pub after work, though. Would still be cool to see that. Maybe some OFC members will be there too?

From the Facebook page, it looks like they're setting up for a video introducing the new guitars. Maybe we'll see some of the cast of our favorite characters. I have so many bruises from kicking myself for missing these things. I wish you all a good time and successful event.

I really hope that someone gets pictures of all the new Models and Specials that will be coming. I think we are going to see some extremely cool things coming down the line from DW, they have graphic technology that is phenominal!! Would LOVE to see some of that creativity on a guitar! The Custom Designs would be limitless!! It could really change the market!

It was a beautiful day, I was able to meet several OFC members like Miles and Damon and PEZ...many more. I spent a lot of time hanging out with Patch, what a great guy.
When I pulled into the lot I spotted a few of the OFC gang hiding out in the back lot acting suspiciously. That's how I knew it was the OFC. Followed up with a sign-in at Delaney Parrot Tavern. Man, what a cool place to hang out...and see REO!!! Afterwards everyone took a quick tour of the shop and ogle the work in progress. I'm sure there will be more to come here.
And one other thing, Arumako, your flowers were well received!

Well I took the drive from Hartford to New Hartford during the commuting hours. Made it to the factory at 10 minutes past 5 p.m.
Everyone was cleared out, and the pub was even closed. I knew the event would be over but thought there might have been a chance to visit at the pub. Beautiful senic ride through RT 44. Sad to see Ovation out in the back of the old mill, but still glad they are there. I look forward to the full report , TJR

Holy ----!!! Those guitars are beautiful. I love the Phoenix. It's perfect. I was hoping I wouldn't like them so I could live without Ovation GAS pains for a while longer. Looks like I may have to postpone retirement again. Although I'd probably never buy one, I thought the two soundhole tribute to the Adamas prototype was also brilliant. DW and the Ovation crew have really done a nice job of paying tribute to the Ovation history with some gorgeous guitars. I hope this brings back the glory days.

Ha! I've already informed SWMBO that I intend to get a 50th Anniversary Ovation to go with my 50th Anniversary Corvette. She gave me a sideways glance, but didn't say no. (she did ask how much I'm expecting to spend, however...)

I was hoping for the same thing.... But the second I saw that 2 hole Adamas, and the Phoenix, I started going over in my head everything involved in removing all those string swings, and re-spacing the entire cave.... You know, I don't own one slot head, yet... Hmmm....

Douitashimashite! Mrs. Budny, Thanks for the kind comment. I am so glad Mr. Budny liked the flowers! They looked much bigger when I ordered them online, Lol! Just so thrilled to have the Mother Ship back, and I can't wait to see those fabulous guitars on Japanese music stores shelves again. Even after all these years, Ovation is still so innovative; and with DW at the helm, I have a feeling the most creative years are yet to come.
My heartfelt congratulations to all of you!
Okay, okay, okay...so who won the Ovation guitar give away contest?

It was a blast to finally put faces to names on the OFC!
I have plenty of pictures, but haven't had time to pare them down to the good ones. Hopefully I can carve some time out later this morning. Some will post here, but some will be saved exclusively for the calendar. And then it's worth remembering that Damon was roaming around with his big gun of a camera as well. I threatened a variety of dire consequences if he did not share them ASAP.
And yes indeed, I saw the next guitar I want. (Well...the next several actually, but one in particular) I'll never be able to afford them, but then, all of you know how GAS works. I walked back over to that instrument maybe thirty times and just kept staring at it.
Kevin Cronin was as nice as anyone I've ever met. And I overheard him during the tour showing off his new guitar to some interested parties. He was not faking his enthusiasm about New Hartford's latest effort. He was positively gushing about how nice that guitar is! His manager kept telling him they really had to get going "NOW PLEASE or they would be late", but Kevin just kept grinning in a "kid-with-a-brand-new-toy" kind of way and going back to describing some other detail he'd just noticed.

A BIG Round of THANKS to "The Mothership 7", XRaiderman (Bill X) and DW for doing this!!
This is EXACTLY what we, as O Fans, needed to have to Celebrate the Re-Birth, and make the Statement that Ovation is Back, and seriously Ready to Roll! They did a Great Job of building the excitement, back from the 4th of July with the Videos, to the Re-Launch Celebration! Everyone was worked into a fevered pitch!!
It had to have been allot of work to pull it all together, and make the Day so Extra Special. And even for those of us who could not be there in person, the excitement here was palpable waiting to see videos and pictures of what would be coming out of the gate first! And "The Boys" did not disappoint!!! Those new Models are Beautiful, Creative, and are going hit the Market full force!
It is hard to believe that a mere 7 uber-talented, and dedicated men, are creating each and everyone one of these amazing Guitars for us! That in itself is Amazing! With the years of experience and dedication there, Bill X's savy and dedication, and DW's creativity, and belief in the Product, I see a really Great Future for Ovation/Adamas! I can't wait to see what comes out of that small shop over the next years. It is going to be Amazing!!
You Done Good BiLL X!!! Thank You for making it such a Special Day for all of us!

And speaking of Kevin's guitar. He gave me permission to take as many pics as I wanted for the calendar. I can't use them all, so put on your bib, start saving your cash, and enjoy!

THANK YOU Patch!!!
HOLY BUCKETS those are Sweet!!! LOVE everything about them! The inlays, the wood binding, the RED Carbon Fiber, the Phoenix, they are just Fantastic!!! The attention to detail is SO Ovation!!! The Legacy Continues! And this is just the Beginning!! So much to look forward too!! (once I get my hands on one of those Red Adamas with the Slot-head and Phoenix!!!)
Looks like my tool room is going to have to go out in the barn - I am going to need that room too! The bedroom can go too, OH! and the store-room!
(I think Kevin is just a Cutie, he is holding his New Guitar like a little boy with his first pellet gun!!! He looks VERY happy!!)

Oh, I know a bunch of hipsters who would think that "a little boy with his first pellet gun" is totally politically and socially incorrect But I get your point. Well said!
(I also remember when living on Cape Cod Massachusetts was "living in the country")
And I wanna Thank Patch and PEZ and Damon and Peggy and everybody else who posted photos.

Oh man, so do I. But, I've got to pay off something facilitated by a great act of generosity from one of our members before I can even contemplate this (and the conversation with SWMBO). Hearing REO Speedwagon, and seeing Kevin Cronin's love of Ovation, gave me a small way to say thanks - I went out and bought one of their albums (OK, I didn't go out because I have the flu, but I bought it on iTunes).

It was a privilege to be there...seeing some of the usual suspects....Bobbo, Al, Cliff....some of the recent new friends, Miles and Damon, and the folks just met...especially that calendar creator Patch. You nailed it Bill X...Elizabeth did a great job too. Mr. 110% J Budny...and Darren...as usual - out of the park. I concur - the guys from REO were genuine, approachable, and really like Ovations. Gotta love the set up in the pub...the sound contractor had a 48 channel digital board...5 monitor mixes for three guys ten feet apart, and typical...someone was running around trying to find 9 volt batteries. Met about 5 DW employees...all were first class. The 50th and its iterations are going to be worth it...couple of neck options, couple of scale length options, cutaways and full bodies....Mark...most everything I saw was full contour bowls...except of course for the vipers....a few SSBs hanging around Prof...but my guess is they will be customs. Until we all meet again folks...the tavern can be the perfect OFC get together place....but they better lock the factory doors.

YOU GUYS AR THE BEST!!!!!
I think it is pretty safe to say, that we feel the same way about you BillX!! This was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
I have not heard one bad comment, not one! Everybody is planning and plotting to get their hands on one, and everybody is just stoked that it is back where it belongs, being made on by those who belong making them! And that the new/old designs are Exciting, Classic yet New, and they Honour the Original Company! And the attention to detail was not lost in the passing, but maintained to the Nth degree!
You deserve a Huge Pat on the Back, and Day Off for certain! Thank You for making this SO Special for all of us!! I remember asking if you could get us a picture of the Boys and the First Guitar they built, instead of a firecracker, you gave us a Lift Off!! VERY Impressive!!

For you guys that were there... I'm curious about the necks pictured. First thing that catches my eye is that the annoying LX speed-bump where the neck meets the headstock is gone. Second, seeing what appears to be an aluminum neck mount on the heel makes me wonder if this is some kind of a hybrid K-Bar with the truss-rod adjustment moved to the head or just a refinement of the LX system. Was there any insight given on the tour?

Dang, I've been off the forum here for quite a bit and only recently came across the GREAT NEWS that the USA factory is back open and making beautiful Ovation / Adamas guitars again (as it should). Super awesome that Ovation extended the invite to the OFC members and recognized that you guys are the ones keeping them alive and opening back up.
Sorry 2wheeldrummer, I'm a Midwest guy and most definitely would have split or shared the ride for chance to visit Ovation Mecca for their grand re-opening. Where can I find the pics and video from those who did make it to the party? I'll have to poke around a bit. FYI - I may not have been visiting here and keeping up with my favorite musical instrument....EVER, but I haven't lost any of the love. My daughter gifted me about three years ago with twin grandkids (boy and a girl) and I've made sure that they see and hear ONLY Ovation guitars. I gave my son my '79 Legend LTD Model 1651 "John Lennon" guitar, which he LOVES and gets compliments on all the time. He's been keeping real busy with this little band he fronts. He's writes lots of great hooky songs - makes me jealous. So whenever he brings out his acoustic to play something for his niece and nephew, it's always his Legend guitar. I pull out my Elite whenever I play for them. So the bottom line is that my son and I both are growing us a couple of future OFC members amongst my 2nd generational offspring.
Okay...forgive my rambling AND for me being the Rip Van Winkle of the group, but what's this new type of spruce I see listed for the 50th Anniversary Custom Elite? Am I reading the name of it right? Bear Claw Spruce? Is this better than the old Sitka spruce?
