It wasn't just your favorites. Seems like everyone used Ovations back in the 70s. I sure noticed back then and managed to scrape together enough money to buy the cheapest USA made Ovation in 1977 as my first new guitar. I didn't get my second new guitar until the OFC about 30 years later.

I was musing about this at work and my coworker, who grew up in LA, is all..."yea Neil... He was great at the Bowl!" I am all ... Huh? When did he play? "Oh...it was the Hot August Night Tour, my dad took me and we were in at a table up front, it was when he recorded that live album."
My jaw literally dropped, pretty sure I was speechless for a few moments! Only the greatest album cover of all times...not to mention the recording!! Ah these kids who grew up here...so damn lucky. Ain't no one came to the hills of Arkansas where I grew up... Well except the great Levon Helm.... Oh yea and there was that time Blue Oyster Cult played the VFW in Fayetteville...

I didn't see him at the Greek, but my first concert was mom taking me to see him at the cow palace in SF. Hot August Night was already playing on the 8 track, so it wasn't that album. I believe it was the Beautiful Noise tour maybe? He played the coolest guitar ever. I never knew what it was till I met y'all

Btw, the way the strings start off softly with the rest of the orchestra building up and eventually leading into Crunchy Granola... That Hot August Night album has one of the best openings of any live album I've ever heard

I saw him in 81 with my girlfriend and it was the greatest show ever. He played it all, a little of everything. It had a very romantic tone as well. Even with all that my girlfriend broke up with me the next day. Maybe I should bring my wife to his show? Lol

Great video, guess my favorite Neil songs is solitary man. My favorite ovation video is still Ann Wilson playing crazy on you live. Or was it Nancy? Don't remember, but I remember it was amazing.
