Hello, Ovation nation! I just found this site, and I'm thrilled to know that there's a community for Ovation enthusiasts.

Back in 1981, my dad bought me a Ovation Legend 1617 with a tobacco sunburst finish as a Christmas present. The guitar has been my companion ever since. However, some years ago a split appeared in the soundboard and it's gotten progressively worse with time, to the point where the wood is curling up near the crack, the soundboard looks wavy, and weird vibrations at different frequencies lead me to think that some of the braces may have loosened a bit.

I'm wondering whether I'd be better served by sending the guitar back to the Ovation factory for repair or finding a local luthier to tackle the job. Since I'm the original owner, is there a chance that the Ovation limited lifetime warranty might cover some of the needed repairs?

Thank you, Michael. It's a pleasure to join the club.

Would I be correct to assume that Kim Keller is someone on the customer service team at Ovation?
