The Due Date is NOW!!! As Soon As Possible. Do not dilly nor dally (or is it dily and daly)... anyway... do not procrastinate. The more submissions I have the better this will be and so far the submissions are perfect. Doesn't need to be fancy, high res or high tech... (of course it can be if you like)... just get something. Turn your phone around (or use the front facing camera) and do a selfie or video-selfie. Seriously do NOT overthink this, just do it.

Here's one I just did. We're looking for QUANtity here. I need LOTS and LOTS of'em but all from different people.

C'mon....surely you spent hours and hours thinking about and planning that video, then rehearsing over and over again til you were completely exhausted and nearly going mad. (At least it kinda LOOKS that way...)

I've only received about 12 submissions so far. Only a few are actual videos. I need at least 20 vid clips if this is going to work as intended. I'm making a cut-off date of December 31st as I will need a few weeks to put it together and was hoping to have it ready by NAMM at the end of January.
Anyway... PLEASE just do a snapchat or selfie clip per the original post and send it up to the address supplied in the instructions and lets make this happen.

Each submision may only be THREE-FIVE SECONDS LENGTH !!! Shorter is better and I suspect most will end up between two and three seconds which is perfect. It can also be a still photo or graphic or just an audio clip as well.
It should say or infer something like "Thank You" or "Welcome Back Ovation" or "Happy 50th Ovation" or "Best Wishes Drum Workshop" or something along those lines.

It's on hold until I come up with a better idea or a better way to explain it, as only a few people submitted anything, and most of those didn't follow the directions. I still might be able to do something, but honestly I was so disappointed I put it aside.

Yep. That sounds like our group. 'Course that's also what makes the gatherings so much fun. It's a double-edged sword for sure but one we carry proudly.

Try 'splainin' it in pictures.
There's a sample/example a few posts up. What more can I do?

Weaser P - 2016-03-02 12:41 PM It's a new world, Miles. Forget pictures. Use emojis. We may have to run to our kids first but they'll explain it to us.

Man...I'm so sorry Mr. Ovation! My enthusiasm, just got out-of-hand and two seconds turned into eight! I'll keep the enthusiasm, but get the time under control, and send a new one over. Hopefully, it'll get completed; but if not...no worries! Thanks for making the effort!

No worries. You can resubmit if you want, but I totally expected some to go over and under so what you sent already will be fine. The real issue is that of only 13 submissions, only 4 were even videos. So I have the "b-role" and the intro and filler and even background music... just essentially no content.

I thought it was audio-only, so I threw in a nice riff... No words, other than the voice of my guitar in open-D!
I'm curious how you thought it was audio only? I'm not trying to be a putz, but with nearly everyone (the few that actually did something) essentially NO ONE followed the directions.
Submit audio, video, or photo with a caption, or you holding a piece of paper with writing on it, or a graphic, etc... BE CREATIVE in accordance with the following.
In a later post I actually gave an example.
I would love it if someone could write a better description. Something similar to my selfie video is essentially what I figured everyone would do and was hoping to get.... but I obviously speak a foriegn language and would truly appreciate the help on this. I think it would be a wonderful gift and a fun project... 100's of clips of voices saying Thank you in some form for the folks responsible for bringing Ovation back. I assumed I would get some photos and audio clips as well which is fine for the filler and transitions... now I have plenty of filler and transistions and NO content. Well, almost no content.. A couple of people sent stuff that I can use for some content... but nowhere near enough to fill a few of minutes worth.

I was going by the original instructions. You may have made additions since then, but I'd have to see the first version to say for certain. Ok, I'll make a new audio clip. It will be audio again as I know that the varying video formats and qualities will affect the final cut. I still love the clip I sent you; it's my ringtone now. Maybe throw it in somewhere...
Again, not trying to be difficult and I will absolutely be using the clip you sent. But apparently no one understood, I guess I should have just said "Video Selfie saying something along the lines of thank you or congratulations to Ovation or DW" use your own words.... Maybe now that I have, some more will start coming in. My bad..

Miles,
Thank you for the clarity. Me not read good, so simple better. Really, I have no idea why my ability to follow instructions was absent...
Cheers,
BillÆ
I appreciate you engaging in this. And trust me, I have enough of an open ego to realize if no one understands the directions, it's NOT their fault, it's mine. I'm just looking for a way to get this project done in spite of myself I guess.

Miles, this sounds like a great project. The original post and request was made months before I became a member, and I read where the cutoff date was December 31st.. but now, coming up on mid April, I see there is still talk about building it. Should I assume that you are still seeking submissions??
