Location: When?? | This is a few months old but I just now came across it, and I did an OFC forum search and didn't find it already posted on here, so here it is if anyone cares to check it over-- Rolling Stone's 100 greatest guitarists (as of 12/18/15).
I know.. I know.. it's all so subjective to RS's own agenda, but it was still fun to look through (even though Roy Clark isn't on it).

Yep, I fully agree.. that's why I said what I did about Roy Clark (and Campbell) and Rolling Stone's publishing politics in hopes that others would make fun of them too (not exactly my favorite rag).. but I posted it anyway since at least some of the list is quite valid with some interesting caption stories. As for Nelson, I think his actual guitar is a lot more interesting than his playing abilities which, in my opinion, should have ranked somewhere in the mid 300s at best. |

Location: Texas | I am not bagging on RS. Really a decent mag. Glen didn't do much to showcase his skills on the guitar to the average joe. He was a great entertainer. His fans are well aware of his prowess on the frets. I think he will always be overlooked and never given credit for his playing skills. Willie has done a good job at making his picking a part of his music. One just cannot help but hear that Martin on every song. Now does that make him great? Hardly. A lot of those included were just part of the circle jerk of inclusiveness.

Location: Boise, Idaho | Thanks for linking to that thread, Waskel. It kept me smiling instead of doing a few Saturday morning chores. I didn't even check the Rolling Stone list, but spent some time yesterday listening to one of my sentimental favorites, dearly departed Pete Huttlinger. |
