I have held off writing this post to ensure my thoughts were accurate over a reasonable period of time (and they were!). I wrote in a few former posts that I had obtained a 2008 Elite Standard LX and was very pleased with it. My first "real" guitar was a mid-70s Legend that I worked and saved for while working part time in a grocery store during high school. I played the heck out of that guitar but eventually bought a Taylor while my Legend was at the Mothership having a top crack repaired. I have owned and played Taylor, Gibson, Goodall, Santa Cruz, R Taylor, Yamaha, Fender, Martin, Webber, and other high quality guitars. I have truly liked and enjoyed some of them but I never found the one that truly moved me, or as a friend said, nothing has stirred my muse. Nothing, until now.

I took my Elite Standard to my luthier who set it up perfectly for my taste. I have played it over and over and over...I just cannot put it down. My R Taylor (which I ordered to my specific tastes in 2011) has been being neglected. It is a wonderful guitar, but my Ovation has a tone that is so fantastic, that I have yet to plug it in to my acoustic amp. That's right, the acoustic tone is that great.

On one of my previous posts, someone suggested perhaps this Ovation was what I was looking for all along. You know, I think it may just have been. I am so far removed from my Legend that I can't remember if the tone was as good as my Elite LX, but I can say for certain that it was no better. My new Ovation is outstanding. I haven't stated this on any other forum because it seems to me that used Ovation prices are creeping up even now, much less if everyone learned how great they are. You know what? It wouldn't matter, they would all laugh and not believe me any way. All the better for us, but I do want folks to start buying the new Ovations since I want this company around for many years to come.

Finally, I made my former posts as Taylorcrazy and have now changed my Forum name to O'Crazy! That name is appropriate since I am crazy about Ovations! Thanks everyone for your kind reception here.

Live and Learn.

Yup, Ovation prices are creeping up on eBay...
But that doesn't mean that they are getting those prices.
Search "Sold" listing and you will see.

Also... Most of the people who talk bad about Ovations will never buy one.
They have been talking bad about them for so long that they could do that.
Most of those people have never played a USA Ovation anyway.

I own a Baby Taylor... Nice little Toy. Made in El Cajon, CA USA in July 1998
But I will still talk bad about Taylor Guitars. I ain't shy

You are so right. I´ve just gone wild about leonardmccoy´s cream white legend...and out of the blue I stumbled on a cream-white 1758 Elite 12string, which in fact makes my collection step by step growing towards "boat load" dimensions.http://www.ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/images/emoticons/laugh.gif

It only gets worse from here now that you recognize the addiction,  just wait until you hit the point where you buy more than you play!

Sam, we should have a Boise Ovation gathering. Even if the two of us just show up, we could spend a whole weekend just playing each guitar.

No.  Madness is the point where you've bought so many that you forget what you already have, then discover that you're now buying duplicates.

Wow, I will agree Professor, that is the madness that ensues the addiction! Hopefully I never get to that point!

I play all of my guitars regularly, and the sunburst custom legend 6, cutaway6, 12 and the legend 12 are no duplicates but totally different sounding guitars with different playability.
I already had 3 custom legend 6, deep bowl Ov´s at a time, and even those 3 were not the same. But the one I have kept now turned out to be the best-so far.
Addiction...I don´t care. I have to work so hard and have to be so reasonable all day that I allow myself a little madness.
Anyone with a pristine sunburst Ovation 1658 for sale?

O'Crazy, I hope you're right.
Like OMA, I've seen some used Ovation prices creep down after being listed for 2-3 months. A few absolute steals. But I have also seen certain Ovations and Adamas sell very quickly in the past couple months. There are some very desired models.

I think Ovation opinions will remain 50/50 (at least on most internet forums), but I'm not sure that matters. Even Taylor threads sometimes go 50/50. Forums. Yeah, I get the irony of saying that on a forum. And I've had some nice high-end Taylors, but then a top-of-the-line Takamine crushed them tonally...and then an $800 used Ovation crushed them all tonally. Man, that shook me up. When an $800 guitar replaces your $2,000 guitar.

And yeah, most Ovation haters have only played Celebrity models or shallow bowls (or haven't played one, and their "informed opinion" comes from reading forum comments). Ultimately, only pay attention to your ears.

I absolutely love my Adamas and have used it for many years. My 714 Taylor is an excellent guitar as well. Can't talk bad about either one of them. They are drastically different in tone and feel, but both are great instruments.

I don't have time to regularly play all my O's, but when I do get into the music room most of them get a turn due to being in different tunings.

I love the MWoody modified Deacon with the acoustic piezo saddles and Viper single coil pickups. That's the guitar I refretted and also replaced the neck binding on. But my daughter "borrowed" it a few months ago and it hasn't come home. Her birthday is next week and I think I'll tell her to keep it as a gift. That would then give me the excuse to buy a new carbon fiber Viper from the factory if they ever offer them for sale.

Yes, it is an addiction. Just one more!

I played all of them, when I had less of them. It seems the really historic ones don't get as much play time as before, which is okay, I would like to keep them nice. I have been introduced to Adamas Fever, and like to play them the most now. But the first one I grab when I play will always be the Millennium. Although "Bear" (Adamas BearClaw) is fast becoming a Favorite now too!
