Sorry Al,

I'd buy half of what's on your website if could. But it's going to be a long time until I can afford to buy any guitar again.

Lots of thinking, but that's about as far as I got before I remembered that we'll be getting a bill from the roofer in the next couple weeks. Trying to retire sucks when the bills keep coming in.

OMG - I just received the guitar about 30 hours after ordering it and it is absolutely stunning, It is a real work of art that the pictures can't do justice to.

Thanks Al for the great deal and lightning fast delivery and if anyone is on the fence about buying his other one's he has in stock I wouldn't hesitate, My only issue is that my wife took delivery when I was out ( yikes ). Anyway all is well - Thanks again.

There's one less available, now that mine arrived (thanks Al!)

These are gorgeous, limited-edition, USA-made (deep bowl!) guitars at an unbelievable price.

If you're on the fence, or anywhere near the fence, I'd strongly suggest that you call Al for a quote before they all get snatched up…

OK, I kicked myself for months now, but I happened to get a tax refund just in time for my 65th birthday, so I stopped kicking and called Al.
I'll do a report in a few days.

I haven't played it, but it's just what I wanted, a traditional deep bowl legend in sunburst. When these came out, I kicked myself because I had just bought the 2078 le. It's a fine guitar, but I've never been a fan of the contour bowl (I just didn't see the need and thought it was inconsistent with Ovation's basic premise) and I prefer the sound of a center hole over the Elite style. Also, I didn't have a sunburst, although I got the VXT in sunburst.
Anyway, I bought the 2078 thinking it would be the last US made Ovation and then they come out with the 1617 ALE, but with a pretty steep price tag. A tax refund coinciding with my 65th birthday seemed like a sign I had to follow. This may be my last guitar, although SWMBO claims I always say that.

SWMBO also said I should sell off some of the ones I don't use, but I didn't hear that part. Besides, tuning them counts as using them and I've tuned most all of them recently.

It arrived today, a week ahead of my birthday, but SWMBO couldn't keep a secret. It's beautiful, sounds great, but I have 4 guitars on the floor now, so I took a couple of pictures that I'll try to post tomorrow and started making room on the wall for a couple more.

I spent at least an hour trying to post a pic (slightly interrupted by a phone call from my 90 year-old father). The problem is probably that I needed to post the pic to my album first, since the Rich Text Editor on this site won't let me browse right to the pictures on my computer. It's been a few years since I posted one. Of course you computer geeks could easily find bunches of pics, including on Al's website, if you wanted to. I've also concluded that I'm a lousy photographer, especially with a phone.

OK, I got the picture in there, but couldn't figure out how to rotate it. Now buy one. I need to spend more time playing guitar and less time figuring out computer stuff.
I went into GC last night to get a couple more guitar hangers with a gift certificate that I've had for a year or so. Lots less inventory since I was in there last, but they did have a few new Ovations. All foreign made.

Think I need to get an old sunburst. Maybe from the 70's or 80's. They are classic!!

I have an early 80's mothership burst.. but I'm not so sure if it's a "sun" or a "tobacco", or where the color gradient actually switches from one to the other.. but it's pretty. And yes, definitely classic to the era. The thing about the bursts is that they have to stay polished up nice and glossy or they quickly look dirty.

I like the classic bursts, too. Damon's 1537 burst is gorgeous. I also had a burst Balladeer that I really liked, except it was a supershallow bowl. My thought was a deep bowl Legend or Custom Legend in a burst. When they did the 1617ALE it pretty much fit my wish list, but the MAP was something like $3200, which was way above my wish list, especially after I bought the 2078LE-AS, figuring it would be Ovation's last USA made guitar. Al's price on these made it tough to rationalize looking for a good used Legend or CL burst.
It's close to the burst on the VXT. I'll have to put them together and see.

I've been playing it pretty much every day since I got it. I took out 2 shims. It had 3. There is a little less volume, but it has plenty to spare. My fingers aren't strong enough to play as much as I want to with 3 shims.
Since I couldn't afford any more recent new USA Ovations I feel blessed to get this one. Who knows if there will be more USA Ovations?
BTW, the burst is slightly different than the one on the VXT.

I also took out 2 of my shims and use extra lights on it - plays like a dream, also much lighter in weight than my Balladeer or Elite.

Mine is # 18/50 and appears darker around the edges than yours pictured, these are really beautiful guitars and look better in person.
