| I'm obviously new here. I have owned my Ovation for many many years and have been wanting more info about it, but cant seem to find anything online. I tried using the forum search function, but still couldnt seem to find anything. I own a 1527D. Does anyone have any information they can provide. |

| Any info at all would be great. I have the serial number as well. Upon a simple serial number look up I got a very rough idea on when it was produced. Not sure how accurate the site was. I have no idea of it’s value, materials used or exact production date. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Welcome rj62. Well if the site used for the serial was this site in the FAQ forum than it is was pretty accurate. There is also a "Model Reference" that will tell you a bit about the guitar. |

| Awesome. Thank you! The info from those were much more complete than I found elsewhere. The guitar was manufactured in 1985, much older than I expected. Is there any resources that would point to what materials it was made of? The guitar is all black and the neck is very composite like. We’re any of these guitars produced with a composite neck? Or is it some type of finish? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Okay... You need to look at your guitar Neck Heel.
If you can see where two pieces of wood are joined, then it is wood.
Some Ovation guitars have composite necks.
Applause, Matrix, Academy...
But if you can see the heel is a separate piece of wood, it is wood.
Here is an Archive page about the 1527
Scroll to the bottom of the page, it says that "All models incorporate mahogany necks"...
I am not sure how true that is.
I owned an Ultra 1312 than definitely had a Urelite (plastic) neck that was stained to look like wood.

| Thanks for that link. I did some research and although it says it is supposed to be wood I’ve played enough guitars to know that it definitely is not wood. I had no idea about the urelite necks until I read about them earlier. Seems kind of strange to me that the majority of the guitar is composites. |
