New to posting on the forum, and I wanted feedback on tuning.

I have a Pinnacle 12 string and a Ultra 6 string. Both guitars have D'Addario custom lights with stepped down tuning, because it sounds fuller and brighter. My Ultra is tuned open F for slack key. Chimes at the 5th, 7th, and 10th fret are crisper and really zings. Whenever I capo, no matter where, sustain is non existent, which is ideal for some songs. At standard G, I get too much ringing.

The Pinnacle is tuned standard at F#, with capo on the 1st. This makes it easier for my arthritic fingers to grip the neck and hold the strings. Besides, I read somewhere that it puts less stress on the truss.  I play for the simple enjoyment of playing and relaxing. Not many around here in my part of Ohio that kanikapila. I also have a Kamaka baritone and home made koa 6 string uke high G. I am 73 years young, retired Army, and I let my music take me back to my hunna butta days.

I'm thinking it's either the capo or where exactly you are placing the capo. You might just pop up to mediums for an experiment. 13-56 vs 11-52.
