Location: Tennessee | It's just a proud papa thing, but my son's song (he's a Marine currently doing his second tour in Iraq) got picked up and is going to be on an album being released on November 11th. The label is planning a MONSTER (in their words) PR campaign in support of the record, and have hired a top firm to lead the way. So now I get to deal with the lawyers, agents, and press people while he's still overseas. The coolest part is that there is money involved ... we retain all rights to the music and get royalties from publishing, record distribution and airplay. I also get to be involved in a little way since I produced the track and played some on it. Sorry ... no Ovations were used, but we used two Hamers -- does that count? |

Seriously Bob, congrats and tell your Marine that we're all proud of him, his music, and his service.
Everybody, Bobbo played this tune for me a month ago. It's outstanding. 2 chords and the truth. It doesn't get any better than that..... |

Pass along the official OFC pat on the back from all of us for everything he's doing. |

Location: Tennessee | Hey, thanks everybody for the kind words. Much appreciated. gh1, yeah that was the thread that sort of got this whole thing rolling. I'll let you all know when the CD gets released and how you can find it. Release date is Nov 11th. For a small agent's fee, I can arrange for autographed copies. ;)
I did find a pic his girlfriend took of him with the Ovation he likes to play most ... thanks Tuppy.
Oh, and Tuppy, I don't care if you want to beat ME out of the five cents, but you shouldn't screw with a Marine whose job is to fire a bullet into a target a mile away. |

Two points of good news: 1) My son is back from Iraq safe and sound. 2) The CD was officially released yesterday. You can go here to check it out and order if you want: TTFR Rock Vol I . Dane's song is not one of the ones in the current rotation on the site (as of today), but I've got to say that the quality of the songs they put on the CD are really good. Sort of like the Member's Night Out CDs. ;) |

| D'ya think if we got Dave to bend over and stuck a postage stamp in the right place that bobbo jr could shoot straight thru the existing hole just like Jimmy Stewart in Winchester '73? |

To your son from a former Marine: Welcome Home and Thanks for your service to our country!
Glad he likes the 82C: I gave mine to my daughter and she can't let anyone who visits our home go without telling/showing them "her" blue guitar!
Congrats on the song and again: Thanks and Welcome Home!
Dave, in regard to this: "it would be an HONOR to have one of Americas finest shoot me in the ass from a mile away", I just can't do it cuz (and I'm going out on a limb here I know)I really like ya! Sides, I haven't received my new old Uke yet! :D
I don't know how I missed this thread when it first came around...

A big "thank you" goes out to your son from me & my family. I'd like to buy him a drink at the Amelia Island gathering. I guess you would have to drink it yourself... but the thought is there. |
