I've had three ovations and have never experienced face problems due to heat or cold. I live in in the hottest places in the US and keep my guitars in a case, with no humidifier. I think of Ovations as somewhat bullet proof. Although, I did just purchase a nylon string Ovation that looks like someone tried steel stringsand pulled the bridge off and then made a bad-glue repair job--I've returned it.
For really durable guitars I've been through 11 carbon fiber guitars (I may be older than you). More recently I purchased a Blackbird Ekoa Savoy, one of the finest guitars I've ever played, and it will probably be my last guitar.
