Hi Guys,
Thought I might provide another project for your viewing and conjectural pleasure. I watched this KA-14 languish on FleaBay for a coupla months. Pursued the sale and the critter should arrive sometime today.
I will do whatever I can with the cosmetics. For the initial foray, what are your recommendations for removing the vestige of the bygone rosette adhesive? I will decide on its replacement eventually but wondered what the black adhesive is and what will remove it most discretely.
Herewith is the evidence:

Apparently, idle hands are the devil's workshop. So, recommendations for the tuner knobs. Should, or could, they be repaired, or replaced? And, any ideas where to find replacements?

The adhesive was fairly soft and scraped off well. I will see if a little Goo-Gone removes the rest of the residue. The tuner buttons have a few cracks in them but seem to be solid. "If the roof don't leak...."

Lacquer thinner & elbow grease. Cures many ills. Sent a "kite" to The MotherShip about rosettes. Curious to hear a response. I know I can get a Celebrity version from Dusty.

Installed a rosette. Nothing fancy. No word from GEWA, yet. Critter plays pretty well, reflective of superior Kaman engineering & innovation. Still has some meat on the cowboy frets, too.

David Witko bought one of those 20 years ago and we had it at one of the NAMM parties at my house. Almost everybody signed the top with a magic marker. It was surprising how good it sounded......
