Howdy everyone! Well I need to pick your brains guys. I am having a problem with an undersaddle Fishman pickup. I am thinking that it might be a saddle problem, but not real sure.

It has a bone comp saddle, and an active Fishman unersaddle pickup. The E-A-D strings produce good sound, but the G-B-E strings produce very little sound. I pulled the saddle out to check the pickup and noticed that the bottom of the saddle has what looks like voids or air pockets on the G-B-E side of the saddle. Can these voids cause the problem? The pickup looks fine. Any advice will be very helpful.
Thanks in advance
Bill

You need to have good solid (and flat) contact between the bottom of the pickup and the bridge, and between the top of the pickup and the bottom of the saddle. I can't imagine voids in the saddle material would be condusive to a good contact. I'd cut another saddle. They are reasonably cheap. Dave

if those "voids or air pockets" are preventing the pickup from direct contact with the saddle, then the answer is yes. if you sanded the bottom of the saddle just a bit, would that remove the voids? ya' gotta sand the whole length of the saddle ensuring it remains level. if you sand off too much you might negatively affect your action. if just a bit of sanding will not help, then go to a luthier and get a proper saddle made.

If the saddle is not connected to the pick-up...
If the pick-up is a separate unit, and the saddle just lays on top of the pick-up...
[Like my 1861 or one of the CS257's]
I would get a new saddle.

Take the saddle (or the whole guitar) down to the guitar shop, and find a nice solid saddle that fits.
[And you can ask their luthier-dude advice while you're there]

JMO-- That's how I did Auto Repair... Go to the parts store, and Ask!

edit-- Don't know what my computer, or server, or comcast or whoever did....
But sorry about all the above posts, I can't delete anymore   :( very embarrassed!

That would be 4861... I guess that was a Freudian-wish finger slip.
