After hovering over the UPS tracking info for a week, which showed a June 22 departure from Illinois, I finally got the "out for delivery" sign this morning. The guitar stuff was scanned an hour later than the OFC guitar, though, so, like some others, there may be two separate deliveries today. I'll probably get even less work done today than I usually do. OHBOYOHBOYOHBOY

Exciting news Mark. I believe the "out for delivery" thrills me as much as Christmas eve used to as a child. I would also bet, if data was collected, we guitar players make as many tracking hits on our shipments as any group.

Are you feeling OK? From here it sounds like maybe you're not feeling well. Are you sure you don't want to go home and relax, maybe have some tea, head off that cold that it sounds like you have coming on ? Summer colds are the worst you know, and an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. I think you better leave for the day. Maybe take tomorrow off as well. ;)

In 29 years, I don't think I've ever taken a sick day, so no one would believe me if I did. After 29 years, though, no one cares if I take off either.

Mark,

Better than not caring whether or not you show up!

See you tomorrow! You deserve it!

Mark, I hope someone is there to receive it, cause it probably requires a signature...

I was going to offer to take off work, fly to Boise, and wait for it to arrive for you. Of course you wouldn't expect me to be there when you got home, would you? ;) :D

Talk about anticipation ... my guitar was delivered to my office on Monday. Problem is that I've been on the road since Sunday night. I'll finally get to see it tomorrow when I return from this trip.

I can picture it all in my mind....

Mark is sitting out on his deck with that fantastic Idaho mountain view. His lovely wife comes out with a tall, frosty cold drink in one hand and the OFC guitar in the other. She hands Mark both, sits down and purrs... "Play for me dear. You know... the one I like so much to hear."
Mark begins to make the OFC guitar do what it was meant to do. Soon, little forest creatures are peaking out from behind the surrounding trees and rock formations. They are slightly confused because it sounds like nature singing out in the wild, yet this is something new to them.
Soon... bunnys, fawns, and little baby kitten bobcats are gathered around the deck. A song bird then lands on Marks shoulder and offers some fleeting harmony. Mark acknowledges his small feathered friend with a slight nod. And both man and beast know that for now, all is well with the world.

Jeff, your memory is incredible. Yes, the drummer is here and if I was the UPS driver, I wouldn't let him sign for anything. The VW van is in the driveway creating an oil slick.
Maybe I better go home.
Brad's imagination is about as far from reality as you could get. About 95 degrees today here at the edge of the desert. We have a deck we never use. Hippie daughter and her drummer boyfriend will be working on their VW greasemobile or visiting friends. Wife is on her way to San Diego. I'll take the guitar down in the basement to meet it's siblings. Saturday I'm going to strap it in the passenger seat and drive through the Nevada desert down to San Diego.

Yeah, i was thinking, "Brad's obviously never been to Boise" :) Nice image though.

Care to swing by Portland on your way south Mark? -- It's only 5 or 6 hours out of your way.

Brad has these romantic memories of Sun Valley. Robert, we had a VW camper the same color as their's. I was never a drummer and never had a beard as long. I also never went more than a few weeks without a job. Other than that, it's scary.

Mark, congrats on the guitar. Look forward to hearing your review.

Brad, you really should put some ice on your head to take the swelling down. Or have you been hired by Disney? :)

OK, this is getting ridiculous. My daughter said she had to leave at 4 and couldn't find any of the neighbors home, so I came home from the office. Passed 2 UPS trucks on the way and have been jumping up every time I hear a truck go by. So far, nothing.

Mark, go out on the deck and whistle up some of Brads critters to keep you company. :)

2 good deep breaths and a Coors Light should help you through this. Grab your 30th Ann. and strum something. Could be a while 'fore you hold it again! :)

FYI... Back in about '76 I passed through Boise on the way from Salt Lake to Sun Valley. I do remember it had a McDonalds abut not much else.

I'm sitting at the computer, with a view out the front of the house. If I see the brown truck come up the street, I'll dash off a note first, but I'm not waiting to open the box.

OK, you guys lied to me and I'm going to sue you all for fraud.

There was not one pizza box or beer wrapper in either box.

The OFC, however, is as perfect as a guitar can be. I love all the other toys, too. Good thing my wife isn't here to see the mess in the front hall. I'll get some pictures before the sun sets.

Typical OFCBK. (BK = Big Kid)

He finds the box in the front hall and opens it there and then. NO time to carry it to a room out back. GOTTA SEE IT NOW!! GOTTA HAVE IT NOW!!!

Lucky for the UPS guy there was someone else to take delivery. Otherwise he would've been traumatized by the experience and there'd be bits of guitar box scattered all over the neighborhood. (Picture the Tasmanian Devil digging for food)

Guess we won't be hearing from Mark for a few days. I'm actually surprised he had the time to post those 2 messages. He either really likes us... or is just gloating. :)

He's just recieved a new, exclusive guitar.

He's gonna put the new toy down, putting it somewhere picturesque, take some photos, download the photos to his 'poota, select and resize some good ones, upload the photos to the 'net and let us know that he's done so. The whole time this is happening, the new guitar is still sitting in its picturesque environment - NOT BEING PLAYED.

I don't think so.

Then there's the mess in the front hall that needs to be dealt with before the missus gets home.

If it were my missus, I know what I'd be doing first.

OK, it took me a couple hours to unpack, tune it, play through my entire repertoire (15 minutes) take pictures, play some more, eat dinner and download the photos to my gallery. Yes they are there. If I can't get one here, one of you smart guys can.

I cleaned up the mess. The guitar boxes are getting a little deep in the basement though. Anyone need some?

When I bring it down to San Diego this weekend, will that mean that 1/4 or 1/3 of them will be there? Let's compare. I'll be able to tell mine by the 11/12. I don't know if I could tell the difference in sound, since I have trouble telling the difference in sound between any of my Ovations.

I'm just trying to figure out what Mark said. "When I bring it down to San Diego this weekend, will that mean that 1/4 or 1/3 of them will be there?"

Far as I know - #7 is the only one south of the Orange County line. So, .16667 of issue.

Also, only one residing with # 3 of the 47RI.

As an aside, both fantastic, but different voice.

Mark, when you pic the low E and A strings on the intro to Croce's I'll Say I Love You in a Song while plugged in, you'll immediately hear the difference between this model and all your other guitars.

Tony, sorry for the confusion. My knowledge of Southern California geography is poor. It's pretty much "all the same to me." It doesn't help when I ask someone like my secretary, who lived most of her life in LA and San Diego, how far one place is from another and she always talks in terms of hours. Here 3 hours is about 240 miles. There it must be about 20.
I am planning on bringing the OFC with me to San Diego this weekend. PM me a phone number and I'll try to look you up.

That was the nicest thing you've ever said to me Cliff. I'm tearing up. I'll work on the driving part so I can hold my own at the factory tour next year, but I prefer to listen to the real talent.

Congrats mark..

Beautiful guitar.

You've probably aquired the sweetest collection of O's in the shortest time than anyone I can think of.

Enjoy it, play it, just look at it, and smile.

Reality check time. When I checked on the new baby before leaving for work this morning, I saw something shiney on the Axe jacket. (I cleaned up the entryway by piling the stuff on the basement floor.) The cat had pissed on it. I hate cats.
Since it's vinyl, it seems to have washed off fine. Good thing I didn't leave the case open.
Ernie, I suspect the collection is due to a compulsive gene I got from my father. His collection of motorhomes has lost him most of his retirement fund. Of course, that's what retirement funds are supposed to be for, but my wife is a bit concerned about where genetics will take me over the next few years.

Cats.
Jeanette's got two of 'em, and I love 'em both . . .

. . . but if EITHER of 'em pulled something like that, they be dangling (by a low E-string) from the back of a crab-boat by morning.

If the AxeJacket doesn't come satisfactorily "clean" for you, lemme know.
I've got one you can have.

I'm sure it will clean up, but if it doesn't, can I trade our cat for one? My daughter brought her dog and cat with her and our cat probably was afraid to come upstairs. I still don't like cats.

Your cat is marking HIS "territory" for the other cat.

I'd hide the guitars away while you've got "houseguests", as this CAN "proliferate" . . .

I wonder if that cat was once owned by a former Taylor owner? I'm with Cliff on this one. That cat would be having a rough go of it in my household about now.

Does Al have a cat???
I'm not suggesting that any cat Al might have took a dump in the gig bag, I'm just saying that Mark's cat might have picked up the scent and was marking it's territory.

Opps... forgot to drill the air-holes!!
I used to have the book... 101 Ways To Kill A Cat. One of the cartoons showed an Army guy looking for land mines using a cat tied to the end of a 10 foot pole.
Unfortunatly, it got lost somewhere down the line.

I don't buy the marking the territory theory. Whenever we have a strange dog in the house, the cat hides. He likes the basement, which is a long way from his cat box, so he eventually can't hold it. We've had surprises in several places in the basement before. It looked like he tried to cover it with the axejacket.

I never would have thought that a thread on the OFC guitar could stray into a thread on cat piss, but this group is full of surprises. Like the one on cats using the cases as beds. Sorry I'm responsible for this diversion.

I'm surprised that you're surprised!!! Nothing that happens here surprises me anymore! :)

So to get back to what "Really" interests us: Have you seduced any of the local wildlife up onto the deck with the symphony of heavenly sounds from the OFC? :)

If any wildlife finds it's way on to Mark's deck it would be a road kill 'possum some neighbor flung up there to get him to go back inside to play. :)

Mark, I just re-carpeted the house to the tune of about 4k, then the wife decided to bring home a kitten. We already have a cat (a good one) and a dog (a very good one). Well the other day, she came home for lunch and found a 1 square foot section of that 4K carpet torn up right to the backing. The new cat was caught in the act. Said cat left last night, back to where it came from, and now we are back to normal (?). Moral: remove all known bad cats, now.

I just registered the warranty on line. It's a little different than the card. The card doesn't ask for your age bracket. I scrolled to the bottom and see that they stop at 52 and up. I guess they don't figure we get much older.
The registration card isn't much different than the one I filled out in 1977, the last time I bought a new Ovation. Every 30 years at 20 times the cost means that my next one in 2037 will be about $90,000.

They had a question like that. I filled in "other" with Ovation Fan Club. They also asked about number of other Ovation guitars and I had to go with 7 or more.
