I am looking for a place on the N.E. seacoast for my wife and I for a couple of days. Looking for Ideas must be inexpensive.
Thanks Paul

The Ovation Factory has water running past it. Does that count? ;) . It may not be inexpensive but at least there is water. :D

Inexpensive and coastal are tough to bring together but I've always enjoyed Newburyport, Ma. Nice little hamlet right on the water.

Vinalhaven, Maine. Take the ferry out of Rockland. Make a reservation for it, or get there early, because it isn't a big ferry. There's only one motel IIRC, called the Tidewater. Vinalhaven is a small, quiet island with not much to do other than a little walking and sightseeing. There's a lighthouse, a couple of overlooks, a cemetary hidden on a back field where the wife's family rests, and a few shops along main street in town. There's a small museum dedicated to Skoog, who was a legendary boatbuilder. I don't know when or even if it's open to the public, but it gives a view into the island's early 20th century life. Vinalhaven is quiet and away from the crowds if you want a quiet getaway.
