I like the use of the turn-buckles. This of course provides another way to tweek the neck relief.
I can just imagine the thought process.
Okay.. I can glue in this u-shaped thingy into the neck... Then hook a couple turn-buckles to the body. Hmmm the turnbuckles don't line up straight. No worries... I'll just bend em till they fit.

Location: Midland, MI | If you were in full traction, that hardware would make a great alternative to a strap. Just hook it on to your frame and away you go. ;)
I'd guess the parts are worth something close to the current price, but I don't know that I could bring that guitar into the house. SWMBO would probably have me committed. |

Location: Buffalo,NY | These guitars are going for top dollar right now and that may be the reason for the bidding.
If I were to buy it ,I would send it back to Gibson to have them restore it. They claim to be able to do miracles and this would certainly require one; but I bet they would take it on just for the challenge and to be able to show the before and after photos.
That repair has got to be the most,er, "creative" I've ever seen :D . Thanks for the link to it !!

Reminds me of the time I parked my black Austin Healey Sprite (948 cc's of pure power)on the shaded front lawn and when my Dad did a rumbling "Y" turn with his wagon he encountered the Sprite.
When I got home he had taken a hammer and dolly and got it almost back in shape... almost.
Never let a Pipefitter do your body repair and never let a Rigger/Logger repair your guitar!

Location: Budd Lake, NJ | Oh, the poor thing; this is right up there with all those abandoned mangy cats or abused dogs you see on those collection cans at the convenience stores. I hope whoever is the lucky winner will restore it back to all its' former glory; it certainly deserves to be rescued. But not by me--my repair abilities probably aren't a whole lot better, but at least I know that.

I like the bottom few frets of the fingerboard...some great tonal possibilities there....dump the old neck, have a replacement put in, refinish it and have a great guitar...of course then you'd begin to miss the turnbuckles...and the guitar would be "de-valued". what a bozo...
