Finally got a chance to spend some time with this beauty last evening. I picked it up from a fellow OFC member before attending last month’s reunion. It is one of those rare guitars that has spent its life in a case under the bed. No lacquer checking or dings whatsoever. Still has the original bridge guard. The body binding has maybe six plies, something even my deluxe Thunderhead doesn't have. I'm not one who is generally impressed with a 40 year old closet classic, but after installing new strings and completely adjusting the intonation (all but one string was way off), she plays really beautifully. However, the neck is super thin and narrow for a 12-string. This model is definitely not for everybody. I have small hands and fingers and it still took about an hour before I could get the hang of it (at least, to the extent I can get the hang of anyting). Chord finguring has to be very tight and precise. A fraction off to either side and you'll dirty up the adjacent strings. I was not impressed with the bridge pup until about half way into the evening when it suddenly popped into life. I’m not sure what caused this. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that it hadn’t been played very much and the volume pot could have been dirty. Whatever it was, it sure made a difference. I played all the Byrds, Peter and Gordon, and Chad and Jeremy songs I know (sort of). I’m thinking about taking this one to Sunday’s service just for kicks.

These pickups love "pure nickle" strings will make it really come alive.
But for a 12 string you have make up a set.

If the electronics are like the other storm series; there are plugs inside that connect the pickups to the rest of the wiring. It's likely that they need to be cleaned.
