I use EJ16's on everything. They are .012-.053. And they are cheap and light.
But I am considering heavier strings on my 1112, which is similar to CC11, it is a deep bowl acoustic.
But I am considering going a tad heavier for volume.
To bad they don't just sell a discount variety pack...
Try a bunch out first. |

Location: Reno, NV | Everyone has a different opinion on how a string should sound, and what sounds best with their playing style. No one can really tell you what's best as its just whats best for them, might not be best for you. You also have to address the playability vs tone argument. 11's will get you the playability, but might be kinda thin on tone. 13's will get you the thick tone with the added volume, but might be tougher to play, especially any Barre chords.
My favorites are:
1. Martin MSP4100 Phosphor Bronze 12-54.
2. D'addario EJ16 12-53
3. Dean Markley Alchemy LT 11-52
4. Martin Marquis 80/20 Light
Least Favorite:
1. DR Rare Light
2. D'addario EXP16
3. Elixir Nanoweb light |

As stated above....there is no best, there is preference.
I still lament the fact that Darco Gold Flat Wound strings seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. But make my peace with what I can find.
Still deciding if I like the 'nanotube' thing. But you really need to try (make notes, you'll be glad you did....but seem anal retentive to your friends. Don't tell them) several of what is on the market.
Especially, what is regularly available where YOU are. |

Location: Tychy, Poland | i've switched to Rotosound on every acoustic i own.
I use Rotosound Country Gold 11-52 and they're really good. They have that "crisp" sound for long time and for the time period i play on one set (about 3 weeks) they're keeping perfect intonation, what i wouldn't say about D'addario etc.
I hate martin strings because their sound fall flat in 2 days. |

Well, OK, Diogenes, my favorite strings are the free ones, followed by Daddario's and Dean Markleys. Anything from custom light to mediums. Extra lights are too wimpy. I don't care for coated strings.
The only way for you to know what's right for you, is to buy couple different sets and see what you like, though lights might suit you.
As that's the case, and since you've been playing electric, you'll need to build up your finger strength, so start with extra lights, move to custom lights, then regular lights. Then try different brands. Welcome aboard! |

| The "Best" strings are "New" strings. Your preference for gauge and brighter high end or booming low end or something in the middle will depend upon your guitars ability to use the strings you buy and your personal sound quality preferences.
Buy phospher bronze 11's in any brand. and go up or down in gauge from there. Enjoy finding your preference.

Btw, I keep a small piece of paper in each guitar case & write down the date I last changed strings & what kind I put on. Especially handy if you have several guitars. |
