and you people just HAD to introduce the boy to Scotch, didn't you? Now he's out playing in front of the liquor store all day to raise money for a bottle of Balvenie.

KE6DJA from W8UNX stroke QRP. You're full quieting, 5/5 here.

Jason needs to quit screwing around with that 11m stuff; it's bad for your health! Makes you want to drink that Glenpurell stuff.

I talked to Jason on the phone.

He's moved on very short notice to W.Va. and is working but has no computer access right now. He says he should be back online in a few weeks. He's OK.

I think he was already familiar with scotch - the mistake was introducing him to a $50 bottle of single malt scotch.

If you speak to him again Dave give him my best.

Jason,

Make sure to take a little time each day to play one of your Ovation's.

Helps take a little stress out of life.

Good luck with it! We'll have to set up a QSO once you get through it.

Good luck! I'm not really certain what general and tech is but I'm sure you'll do fine.

Please tell me that it's not a spelling bee.

We miss you, Dave

Could somebody tell me what "seven threes" or "73" means?

Seven threes either sets you up for a very seriously strong poker hand....or a clip in the head.

'73 was very good for me. I got out of high school and into radio.

73 is amateur (ham) radio short hand for one or all of the below (most common first):

best regards
warmest regards
best wishes
see you down the page (the log page; have to log your QSOs, you know)
signing off

There's also a lesser used signoff, 88, which I understand means "hugs and kisses." I can honestly say I have never sent that one.

I talked to Jason... He is OK.

I did not realize that the number programmed in my cell phone was not the new one he had posted.

I have his new address in West Virginia.

Jason did get a fair price for his guitar.

Moving, getting a new apartment, setting up utility, phone, internet access, etc, is taxing... physically, emotionally, and naturally, the timing will always be wrong.

Jason will have a PC setup in a couple weeks. Until then, he will check in with us every now and then from the PC at his parents house.
