(I don't wanna influence it in the first hour)
Some young'un told me that Pink Floyd DSM was the most depressing album ever cut...
Another day Older, another day closer to Death...
And go from there!
I think it is a kinda catchy phrase! |

Did you giggle when you tripped?

I downloaded an hour-long version, and was disappointed.
They SO should have synchro-ed Brain Damage with Dorothy first meeting the Scarecrow!
I also got the Dark Side of a Space Odyssey, and that shoulda been better, too.
Of course, Pink is winning! |

Tens years of nothing but Brain Damage and my mind would turn to mush.
I'd start reffering to the album cover as "Wilson".
And you can call me "Gilligan". |

David Gilmour web site No drugs needed for this great guitarist...Sid Barrett did enough for everybody unfortunatly...great stuff! The band still goes beyond classic to near mythical...Roger Waters and crew were way ahead of their time... |

And if your gonna get stranded on a island - make sure it's the same one those people from "Lost" are on. They ALWAYS have plenty of electricity on that island. |

Location: Stratford, Connecticut | Love both albums but if I'm going to be alone and going insane.. contemplating suicide, pissing and moaning, praying to get rescued, trying to be happy somehow it definitely WOULD NOT be PFDSOTM that I would opt for! Is it possible that I could at least bring an acoustic and 10 pack of strings so I know The Beatles album note for note by the time I ever DO get rescued? hahahahaa!
Always opt for the "happy" keys! LOL

There lived a young boy named rocky raccoon
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young rocky in the eye rocky didn’t like that
He said I’m gonna get that boy
So one day he walked into town
Booked himself a room in the local saloon.
Very Profound! |

Location: Tampa, FL | Although the Beatles deserve all the recognition they receive because they influenced American rock and roll like no other band in America and led the British Invasion, there's no comparison between these two choices. BTW, happy 40th to SPLHCB!
DSOTM is by far one of the greatest albums of all time. As one member wrote, Pink Floyd is timeless. Not that the Beatles play second fiddle to any band because they produced some very good songs.
But, no single album can cross generations and cultures as well as DSOTM as a COMPLETE album. There are songs on SPLHCB that are timeless, but not the entire album.
I recently watched the making of DSOTM on VH1. By far one of the best short music documentaries made. Fascinating to learn some very obscure factoids about it and listening to band members, producers, and mixers discuss the project (Alan Parsons pun) was soul satisfying.
Thanks for the opportunity to revisit my admiration for one of my favorite albums. BTW, if anything happened to my DSOTM CD, I would gladly play SPLHCB or the White Album (my favorite Beatles album - as mentioned by other members).
Regards,
Mark |

Not everything is profound.
Sometimes a song about a picture your kid drew, is a song about a picture your kid drew, and a song about cheating on your wife from a rockstar point of view is that and no more. |

As for my favorite rock album, I'd say, London Calling by the Clash. |
