Location: Phoenix AZ | This is getting really sappy with all the back slapping and self promotion over the recent tour, but I just have to throw in my own 2 pense, and then move on. These are just SOME of the OFC Tour related things I am thankful for:
Thank you to Al for EVERYTHING. It goes way beyond just organizing the factory visit and a few workshops. I mean EVERYTHING!
Thank you Templeman for being OFCMOTY. There's a handful of people without whom this OFC would not exist as we know it, and you my friend are front and center on that list.
Thank you to the members who traveled such distances for this event. UK, France, California, Florida, Oregon, Canada, Michigan, etc.
Thank you to the Hotel for putting up with us. Suggestion for next year we take up a little collectoion and maybe buy the hotel staff some token of our appreciation.
Thank you to the whole crew at Ovation, especially Frank, Rick, Kim, John, Jol, Darren, ... I can not think of another company on the planet that would do this for us.
Thank you to all those who participated in the lobby jams. What great fun was had by all.
Thank you to all those who brought guitars and gladly passed them around for all to try out. jesus, where else could you possibly sample an original slothead, and OFC guitar, U681, Koa's, Adamas I and 2's, LX's, Baritones, Collectors, etc. Man, talk about a candy store.
Thank you to all who performed at the lodge. Shame we ran out of time. There were some great performances and I really enjoyed seeing people display their love for their music of choice and instrument of choice.
Thank you to whoever kept supplying the booze. I think I kicked in a 20, but I sure drank a hell of a lot more than that.
Thank you Moody for finally getting your OFC guitar. Now can we talk about something other than what strings are on your FD14 today.
Thank you Brad for your never ending enthusiasm towards this crazy club. People like you and the things you do (trinkets, calendars, willingness to make a fool of your self on stage with me, ...) are what make the OFC click.
Thank you Goober for being there. It was an absolute honor to meet you and the workshop was really good. Thanks for the CD.
Thank you Brian, Mike, Cliff, etc. and any others who actually know how to sing. You guys make it look easy and somehow make our guitar playing sound way better.
Thank you Karen for letting me play your special guitar. It was an honor. Your four part vocal performances were stunning.
Thank you Kim for being a "brother in arms". Your sick sarcasm is matched only by my ability to appreciate it. Thanks for eveyrthing you do and special thanks to Amy for the Marie Antoinette figures, brilliant.
Thank you to those who attended the uke workshops and at least seemed to get a little something out of it. It was fun for me not to be the only one in the room with a small instrument.
Thank you Cliff for the hospitality and for really being a great friend. Your passion for music, performance, taquila and porn is just amazing.
Thank you Jason for just being you. To say you are unique would be a gross misuse of the word. I'm so glad you went through the hastles to get there. It definately would not have been the same without you.
Thank you to all who took (and share) photos, videos etc. A great way to relive the memories of a terrific weekend.
OK, I'll stop. I know I left a lot of stuff out. I'll just say what everyone already knows - YBST!

It's important to recognize that every year Al busts his chops putting this whole thing together and all we do is abuse him for it (some of us, like me, more than others) 'cause he's such an easy target. But every year he does wonderfulness and I hope he knows how much it's appreciated.....
And we should do something nice for the Homewood Suites. But Dave, what's a "collectoion"? |

Dave, what's a "collectoion"? Perhaps a misspelling of "Coition."

And thanks for not dressing me up in drag this year. I owe ya.
And we should do something nice for the Homewood Suites. The best way to do this might be place a tip jar out in plain sight.
We'll have to hit it a little heavy next time to make up for the past couple years.
Jeanette, myself, and others were trying to help clean up but were scolded because we were not follwing the proper procedure. A jar full of green should help smooth that out a bit. |
