Thanks to Cliff for giving me a chance to test drive that awesome Adamas longneck.
Thanks to ttenn for the video work.
Thanks to Dave for the French Fry gig.
Sorry to Amy for disrupting her song at the ski Lodge.
Thanks to Paul T. for the private G-band lesson.
Thanks Karen (Jewel's Mom) for letting me play Gertrude (a '71 Balladeer). Folks.. this was one special instrument. For one.. it plays like butter. The action at the first fret is about the same at 10th fret. A true testiment to Ovation quality. Another reason that makes this guitar special is it's personal history. Karen shared details with me that I won't post here but lets just say that it made me want to play my 36 year old Balladeer and think about all the things that it has seen me through.
Thanks Phil... just for being Phil.
Thanks Kim.. for playing "Little Black Egg". At least you & I will keep that history alive.
Paul Moody... thanks for the encouraging words on our ski lodge set.
Goober.... what a guy. He can boil it down & make more sense with 8 words than I can make with 80. I'm glad he plans on being there next year.
Jerome & Tom... I was bummed when your set at the ski lodge got bumped. (That's a whole other story). I'm glad you gave us a taste of your talent later in the lobby. These guys are good.
To get an idea how his tour effected Jerome & Tom, think how Charlie looked & felt as he toured Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.
Thanks to Waskel for being the best back seat driver I have ever had the pleasure to transport.
Brad... it's raining... Brad.. it's not raining anymore.. Brad... Phils getting away from you.. Brad.. Are we there yet.. Brad.. Brad.. Brad
Ed Stonge... what have you done to me???
He fired up the Mesa Boogie amp... set it up for maximum dirt, sustain, growl & power. Then he handed me a Hamer Monaco. Man, I gotta tell ya.. I ROCKED, DUDE!!! Power notes that rang out forever & then morphed into the most fantastic feedback I have every played with. Then a little lean on that Bigsby made that thing moan like a wounded grizzly bear.
I gotta say that I might be a short timer here at the OFC. If I don't show up for a couple weeks, look for me over at the Hamer FanClub. My name over there will be... ROCK GOD!!
Lastly.. Thanks to BrianT for being the best partner for an acoustic duo I could ever hope to find. |

Brian & I really and had fun with our two songs. We kinda use the ski lodge jam as a benchmark to measure what if anything came out of practicing almost every week for at least 3 hours in the past year. And we will never find a better crowd to play for than the guys & gals of the OFC.
On the bad side, I screwed up and taped over 85% of our set. I'm bummed.

And, as I've told you both, you put on a great performance. "Nobody covers the Guess Who any more! Brilliant choice!" No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature in a duo was a strong move, IM!HO.
You may not have it on tape, but it hasn't been lost, friend. |
