I tend to like lyrics most of the time and I'm more of a sweet melody person than something a bit more harsh. |

| The melody brings attention to the lyrics. I guess that's why it's music... if I don't like the tune, I don't listen to the lyrics.. (in other words, 'rap music' is an oxymoron :) ) |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I remember back in High School, a teacher asked the class something along the lines of whether we listened to the words of a song, or the sound of the song.
I was the only one that said 'the sound'.
I think vocals are another instrument, but then again, some lyrics can turn you off a song.
Half of the time, I can't hear (or understand) what they're saying anyway. |

It's got about the next thing to no melody, being almost a chant, so musicality wasn't really part of the interest.
A sense of energy is what draws me. Passion. Commitment. |

| ..Speaking of a musical 'hook' in an arrangement...I always like the beginning of "Rhinestone Cowboy"...it had my ear from the start. |
