Location: NJ | I am trying to keep up with this.
this is how the workshops are shaping up.
the workshops will be held in the hotel conference room in the lobby area.
For those who want to stay at the hotel and not do the tour on Friday.
9:30-10:30 Uke madness
Our own Dave Witko will do a workshop on how to tune, feed, water, and play the uke. You do not need a uke to attend. Dave will have them available for you to use. No prior experience on Uke is necessary. Dave will review the fundamentals and claims to be able to have you playing a tune by the end of the session. This is a must attend if I ever seen one.
10:30-11:30 Recording techniques for the guitar
Paul Templeman again will extend his expertise in how to record the guitar. Paul have vast experience in home and professional recording and even taught this subject in a UK college. Some of the topics Paul will touch on are mic techniques, preamps, limiters, compressors, overdubs etc. You will no longer be able to use the I don't know how to record excuse to not include a tune for our next OFC cd!!!!
Saturday
9:30-10:30 The care and feeding of your Ovation/Adamas
Kim Keller from the service department will discuss how to care for your guitar. Neck Adjustments, pickup/preamps etc. If time there will also be a restringing clinic and if Temp touched your guitar at any time you will need new strings. Kim has a ton of setup experience in the service department, as a professional musician and as the former owner of the now defunct Keller's music in Columnbus Oh.
10:30-11:30 finger picking / commercial songwriting Buddy Blackmon
Buddy has graciously agreed to do a workshop on these topics. The final topic will be determined by the interest of the attendees. Buddy's career has spanned many years and dispite being known for his banjo picking we will forgive him and be nice!
If you are interested in the seminars please e mail me at alpep@lostartvintage.com or alpep@aol.com
for each workshop you wish to attend I need an e mail with the name of the workshop in the subject and your name and OFC screen name in the body of the e mail. PLEASE follow thses directions and make my life less of a living hell then it already is.
thanks
al
btw if you have not yet signed up you need to do that.
I do want to hear you cannot "afford to go". You CAN'T "afford NOT to go". |

Now I'm having to thinking twice.
I'd like to help Dave with the ukes and I sure would like to learn more about recording.
Hmmm decisions, decisions. |

Unfortunately, I don't remember how I got there last year.I think I rode with Rick Hall, but I've probably blocked it from my memory. I do that with traumatic events. |

just a comment, I spend much of my time and energy oganizing this and getting it together and if last year was any indication I will NOT even be able to attend the workshops myself. so I ask for something that will make my life a little easier with the collection of the names and yes it may require some of you to send 4 e mails. wow the horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edited to add:
when I was a teacher there was a popular bumper sticker it said "hugs not drugs". there were days in the faculty room I would have to weight it out. drugs on one side, hugs on the other. many times drugs won out.....I think today is one of those days. |

Don't be intimidated by the ukulele workshop. No costumes are involved. I swear. I'll provide the ukes (or bring your own) and we'll have a great time. I promise.

It will be fun. Dave is going to instruct and I'm going to walk around between the chairs with a little knuckle-wrapping ruler to make you are doing it correctly !! |

You should for-go the uke thing.
Since it's your first time, you really need to get the full tour of the factory.
The friday morning seminars are set up for those who have already been through the factory multiple times. |

It just triggered action on my part...wondering if it's possible to re-acquire something my kids think I should never have let go. ;) |

I will definitely join everyone at the factory [and some] in the afternoon. |

Actually, a little expert advice from the factory on the subject would be cool. I know that Tony, Jason, Chris and a handfull of others have taken on the Instrumental Curative Arts. |

All I know is that today is illegal immigrant march for rights day in phoenix, which means I ain't gonna be able to buy a decent burrito anyplace for lunch. Crap.
I'll say this, I just had my whole house painted by some "less than official taxpayers". They worked twice as hard and did a 10 times better job than any lazy ass american would ever do.
Viva la revolution ...
