| Ohh my god that poor kid. Your right all that money and a child that has no one but people who want the money to watch out for her interests! Anna was not very bright but I hope that she was bright enough to have had a will that will protect that little one.
What a train wreck.......... |

I wonder how long it will be until the mini-series airs.
I feel terrible for the baby. I hope whichever guy is declared the father raises her in an environment of love ... one that doesn't care one whit about money, fame or fortune. |

Nicole dies ... baby is motherless ...
The baby becomes an astronaut, puts on a diaper, drives a 1000 miles, maces the rival of her affections while wearing a wig, gets arrested, and then wears an ankle bracelet and is tracked from outerspace and can't leave texas.
I made up the last bit, because it's so ridiculous it couldn't possibly happen. |

But what pisses me off is that there are thousands of terrorists out there hell bent on destroying our country, american boys and girls losing their lives every day defending my freedoms, african children dying of aids or starvation every single day and yet the media is fixated on some junkie slut who died in a hotel room. Yes it is sad. Dave |

Idiotic question after question about the most minute details... the same questions asked 10 different ways... WTF cares! Someone died... sad... if it was a criminal matter - go get the criminals - if not, bury the dead and move on. |

It is a terrible thing when someone so young lives a life without much meaning...and then dies. But this happens thousands of times a week to other people.
Pop culture is nothing. It's too bad that most of our country isn't aware of that.

I believe it was Gary Condit that was the big story on 9/10/01. I could be wrong. |

And most people would be saying "Who's she?" |

Sickos. So, you have a five month old baby that is presumably worth on the order of $500 million and with major question marks about paternity.
The people at "Entertainment Tonight", etc must be positively orgasmic about this story. |

Top Story for going on three days!?! Ain't there wars and suffering all over the world? And some rich chick died. So?
People die all the time. My friend, Mud, had a heart attack at 39. My friend, Chief Joseph, just died on me one night, he was in his 20's. Buzzard died of Hypothermia, in SF of all places. My son OD-ed. His Mother died cuz of a hospital screw-up. My brother was murdered. None of these people got any more than a mention in the Metro section.
Who are all these Hillary's, Paris's, Nicole's, etc. What have they done? Who have they helped? Did they give to the local mission? Do they even care for their elderly relatives? Who cares?
Yes, I'm sorry when any young person dies... But Really!
Time to play my O today. |

In the latest chapter, they are TELEVISING the Florida court proceedings regarding the disposition of Smith's body.
The Ringmaster (judge) of this Circus is a stereotypical Florida-transplant from the NYU Ambulance-Chasing Team.
He's already handed-down the edict that HE's gonna be very thorough, will "dot every i", "cross every t", and pretty much told everyone that the body is in cold-storage and is not going anywhere, and prepared everyone that ". . we're gonna be spending aLOT of time together . ."
Translation: "This is MY FifteenMinutes, and I'm gonna be the the NEW "Judge Ito" and do what I can to parlay this into at LEAST a book/TV deal." |

Location: Omaha, NE | I was thumbing through "Timequake" by Kurt Vonnegut the other day. He has a quote in there that seems appropriate: "Any beautiful woman will ultimately disappoint you." (or something like that).
Maybe that's what's at work here. When I look at pictures of her, I see an image (at least back before she gained all that weight) that represents just about everything I have been programmed to be attracted to. But then reality has to stick its nose into the tent, and its not pretty at all.
Its all about the duality of man. The sacred vs the profane. We see an image of idealized female beauty: Full hips and breasts, beautiful face, luxurious hair, flawless smile. To quote Vonnegut again, everything about her just screamed "fill me up with babies". She was a modern day Venus.
How can such beauty be reconciled with a drug-addled reality and an early death? I suppose the extent of her "screwed-up-edness" was a mirror image of her beauty. Only someone that beautiful could be that messed up. And now as we get to watch the full extent of the ugliness of her life unfold, the picture of her youthful beauty becomes even more incongruent. |

Location: Houston, Texas | The thing that I don't understand is that in watching all of this circus coverage, it appears as if most of the women seem to sort of idolize her, much more so than the men. I don't understand how anyone can idolize her, but it has really amazed me how much support she seems to have among women. I would have thought it would be just the opposite.
Could it be that most women are actually taught, subconsciencely or otherwise, that to be a successful woman, you use your sexuality to bilk men and the world into giving you fame and fortune? And Smith is the ultimate champion in acheiving that?
One thing is for sure, if it hasn't always been that way, all the coverage of Paris Hilton and all who are like her is certainly sending that message to young girls now. Just one more sad factor contributing to the decline of western civilization. |
