for member Edensharvest:

Thanks for the Welcome, I just tried to post to the main forum to answer another members's question on cheap recording software. or suggestions on different models and types. and my posting is restricted.

anyway, I've had great luck with both the E-mu 0202 and 0404 usb standalone models, and have an 0404 PCI card model in my home system and also had good luck with the M-audio standalone USB interface. all of those come with decent software, good preamps built in, usb powered with no separate wall wart or power supply, vst plugins, nice effects selections and very easy to set up and use. the usb 0202 and 0404 even have separate discrete preamps and ground lift switches for each channel.

hope that helps and he gets the message.
