Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | Her greatest hits cd was released last week. 17 songs from her 17 year career. Not bad for a chick from Kansas with an acoustic guitar and a raspy voice.
Anyway, the following is found in the credits; "Thank you David Vincent and everyone at Ovation guitars for their unending and generous support from the beginning". Under equipment it says "Ovation and Hamer guitars..."
The songlist includes a cool version of Petty's "Refugee" and a studio recorded version of Janice's "Piece of My Heart"(she's done that live many times before). Plus, there's a few previously unreleased tunes, including a new song "I Run For Life" to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
I've been a fan since the beginning...of the music,of her integrity and character, the honest songwriting, and the amount of heart she puts in every live performance. She's also been using Ovation guitars since long before she was ever signed. And damn, she can play, too!
Pretty cool in my book. A good 17 years. Hopefully we can look forward to plenty more... |

Otherwise, nothing like having the cajones to put it all out there especially being female where unfortunately, and IMHO, all too often the record companies want you to be a little more Ashley Simpson-esque rather than Melissa. |

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I have one of the Adamas 12-strings with her signature...and it is the jewel of my toy box. If you haven't seen it, get a hold of the DVD "Live And Alone"....she absolutely ROCKS on her 12-strings (she plays multiple ones).
The last song on the new CD, "I Run For Life", is a benefit song for breast cancer. She will perform it on Lifetime on "Women Rock" on October 18th.

Ignore the guitar on the KEX website photo. She plays her black 12 string Adamas on all songs. |

Location: NJ | One thing I'll say for the AES Show . . . there were some AWESOME "toys" there!!!
As I was walking up & down the aisles I kept thinking "If Templeman were here, his friggin' head would explode!!"
Kinda' just did a quick "cruise" though the show, as I had Jeanette in tow. We were on our way to see Jethro Tull at Carnegie Hall, and stopped at the Show on the way to dinner . . .
Saw a LOT of NICE mics that I wouldn't mind having . . . |
