Location: Paris/France | This morning, I've seen this one and i've got some questions:
ADAMAS II ON EBAY
1- The seller says 1681-9. Usually, the #9 indicate brown color and this one seems to be red.
2- It's not a 5 pieces neck.
3- The fretboard seem's not to be walnut but Ebony.
4- The neck could have been changed but there's the Adamas logo on the head:
Could it be a custom order or is it a model that I didn't know???

Location: boulder | Paulmac, I will speculate that the fretboard is dirty, like never before once ever cleaned dirty.
Since it is from florida, the original tuners might have corroded and been replaced. I have no idea about the color. I would just close my eyes.
I am just fishing on this and have only made a token bid. |

I think corrosion is unlikely. the sealed gold tuners are pretty freakin durable.
This guitar has had the neck replaced in addtion to the tuners and a wad of paper at the bridge to compensate for the poor neck job.
If it goes at the right price, can you say, " Complete Factory Refurb" |

I wasn't handling the tuner posts which were the first to corrode. |

Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | Still, I'm surprised that it only took 5 years. Gold...even plated gold is pretty resistant to corrosion.
I suppose, however, that if the strings were to wear away the plating on the posts they could corrode much more quickly. |

Location: Studio City, California, USA | Sometimes brown looks redish when you take a picture. It the camera that does that. I am a skatebaord collector, and it does that a lot. Pink comes out orange, red comes out pink...ect
But that doesn't escuse the unescusable. What the hell is wrong with people making extra hole in an instrument of that caliber. I'm working on deal for another guitar, so i can't do it right now, but somebody needs to rescue that poor girl. It's not too late.
Any idea how high the price might go?
Thank you very much

If you look real close you could almost believe the veneer with the Adamas logo was lifted off the original and applied to a different neck. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Actually it is real. It is a -9 finish. It is probably one of the first Ad II guitars, note the 2 piece neck. They did have multiple veneers. That headstock is the electric version rather than the acoustic. Compare it to a preecher and you'll find it's the same I bet. Probably just had to change the tuners for some reason, it happens.
OK I checked it out further on the Ebay listing. It is a special brown, darker than the normal -9. I remember this guitar. Nick made it up to see what the real dark brown would look like. Looks like the bowl took a hit somewhere, walnut f/b that's never been cleaned. If someone gets serious about this contact Timm Kummer, prewar99@kummersvintage.com, he lives in Ft. Lauderdale, he could go look at it and give a first hand report. |

When guitars were pieced together from parts like this... Was a serial number issued ???

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Well ok then ... What do you think it would cost to have a whole new neck/fretboard and tuners put on this? If it sells cheap enough, it could be a refurb project. But by the time you pay for the necessary repairs, shipping both ways ... and the electronics are probably corroded also, purchasing a different guitar would probably be cheaper. |

It does have a s/n, 25something. I'd still wonder about the bowl, did it get smashed at some point? |

Location: Phoenix AZ | Just a WAG, but I would say you could buy a pretty nice A2 in nice condition for about $1200. This one on ebay might go for about $500. I would predict it will cost way more than $700. to bring it up to the level of the $1200. one. If you love the fucged up color, the weird headstock, bad nut, worn and filthy fretboard, who-knows-what neck, blistered paint around epaulets, banged up bowl and nobody knows if the electrionics even work - then this is just the bargin you're looking for. Dave
PS - I've seen that color before. Is it deep mauve? Vaguely reminds me of the bathroom floor in Temps hotel room. |

Location: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida | Update on STRTANGE ADAMAS II in FT. Lauderdale...
I live in Ft. Lauderdale and have sent numerous e-mails to Yulefindither, the guy with the auction... He has yet to respond even though he claims:
"Emails will be answered quite promptly Mon.-Fri. from 9:00 - 3:00...
YOUR SATISFACTION IS MY MAIN GOAL... JUST EMAIL ME AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM ASAP...
I was prepared to go over there with a new set of strings, a guitar tech friend and an amp to test this beast...
He must have something to hide and doesn't have the stones to respond...
Here's his ebay history profile:

Seems he no rookie on e-bay, but he has managed to piss of 20 people...
I could e-mail copies of this entire post to all his bidders but I think I'll leave this alone for now...

FWIW, I just emailed the seller to inquire about a case and had a reply within five minutes. (There isn't one.)
Also, when one does that much business on ebay it is hard to not annoy some people.....
It's still a really funky Adamas, though. |
