I would like to take advantage of those who know so much more about Ovation guitars than I do and ask:
Is there an older Ovation acoustic/electric model that joins at the 14th fret, and has the 1 7/8 inch nut width?
In my first post I told of how I love my 1114; but I would like to have another guitar more like the one that I have described above.
I am aware of the new 6774 that will coming out soon, but would prefer to track down an older used model in one exists.
thanks |

Location: Phoenix AZ | All of the following have 1-7/8 nuts and join at the 14th fret:
Nylon string Country Artist (model 1124/1624)
Nylon string Country Artist (model 6773)
Folklore (model 6774)
Adamas (model 1189/1689)
I may have missed a few. Of course most 12-strings are also 1-7/8 nut, but I assume you're asking about 6-strings only.

Could you tell me how long the 6774 has been around?
Is it new for this year, or has it been made in previous years?
thanks

Location: Earth·SolarSystem·LocalInterstellarCloud·Local Bub | the 6774 has been around since at least the early 90's. Mine is from 93. I was just playing it this morning (actually, it is officially my brother's since I "sold" it to him.) Nice guitar.
Other "Folklore" models including the Josh White have been around since the 70's |

Any advice on the best place to look for one and what I might expect to pay?
Are they hard to find because of the 1 7/8 inch nut?
My 1114 plays like butter and sounds great.
How do like the 6774?
thanks

there was one hanging out at Elderly Music for about 900 just a couple of months ago, could still be there.
I paid $1000 for mine in mint conditon with a custom Ovation case. It is a very nice guitar has a jangley tone. |

thanks

And yes, I was introduced to the neck width quite by accident on my 1114 and absolutely love it. |

TRCs
Basically come in three sizes; long. short and LX. The TRCs on some of the Slot and other Adamas don't spring up that often. I have a "Bill Nichols" Flying Eagle on my 1112-1.
They are a great way to customize and decorate without making a permanent error. |

If you have never played one of these babies, you are really missing out. I picked up one from fellow OFCer ("roundback" on ebay) and it is STILL one of my favorite guitars.
I have seriously been thinking about getting a custom built Adamas 12 string longneck. Man, that would be killer! |

(and you know there is a certain Mr Calman that has an affinity for Adamas 12 strings.....3 to the mothership would make it even more difficult to say no!) ;) |

I now know what a TRC is!
Now, as my eyes wander from guitar to guitar, I am certain that they will focus on this once seemingly insignificant guitar component with a new appreciation!

On the previous model with the larger rosette they list nut width at 1-7/8"

Location: Seattle Tacoma Washington | Does anyone know if the new 6774 will be available in the contour body? I was in at the local Ovation dealer today (That I try to stay out of so I don't have more want), and played the 2005 collector with the contour and that is the stuff I have dreamed of. On my 6774 that always goes on stage with me I have moved the strap lock below the neck to give me better control as I am moving about while playing. With the contour the thing has power steering!!! With that body and the 1&7/8" neck I'd be in heaven!!! Not that I need any more guitars, but I'd certainly take a plea to the boss. Play on pray for peace!!

The bad news is that the factory is mum on building contours on additional models at any rate other than "in due time". I think they have to wait for the standard bowl bigots to retire first. I tried to pay big money for an upcharge to get one and was politely told NFW. So instead I ordered a Folklore minus the bowl, an 05 Collector minus the top and neck, and a tube of superglue. Dave |

I'll definately be looking forward to pictures on that one. But I think if we start a petition they might do the glue at the mothership! I do still think the round back is better looking, but as far as practical application for someone who likes to move a bit on stage, please, I'll take power steering any day! Play on, Pray for peace!!
