Location: Australia | Probably the only thing on the original Adamas guitars that I'm not real keen on is that blob of resin pickguard. It looks OK when the guitar is new but can get pretty yellowed with age. I don't know about you but I hardly ever (if ever) scrap the soundboard with a pick.
My special order 1687 (2002) doesn't have one and I noticed the 12 fret slothead doesn't either.
I guess #47 will have such a pickguard to be faithful to the original, but what about the OFC guitar ? |

Yeah, . . . a "Plan" . . . .
I don't know of any product or process that'll "reverse" the yellowing of such material, - save removing it - (and even then you run the risk of harming the finish under it).
Mine was one of the first batch, and it not TOO bad - I've seen worse - and y'have t'consider we're talkin' 30 years ago. I would think that 30 years of chemical/technological advancement would probably garner a better product nowadays . . . .
Personally, I think it just adds "character". |

Location: Atlanta, GA. | I'm not sure all the Adamas pickguards turn yellow. In comparing Samova's slothead to mine, I believe the yellowing is a product of it's environment.
As mine had been "well played" when I got it in 1990, I have to believe it had been subjected a lot to cigarette smoke perhaps?
Sam's is nearly transparent.
The top on mine even appears to be more green than his... blue + yellow = green.
Personally, it doesn't bother me. As cwk2 said... "just proves it's an old guitar"!

A lttle too much exposure maybe?
Moody, feel the same way? |

seems worth a try |

It really is a stunning looking instrument.
That pale blue is very elegant. |
