are they essentially the same pre-amp? is the 24+ an upgrade or ?

are the dimensions the same inserted to bowl(hole size)for frame?

would the thinline pickup assembly and an op24 or 24+ be a reasonably easy install on an older balladeer?(guitar is already wired passive)?

have the chance to get op24+ if mildly better than the op24 in my elite will swap boxes(if interchangeable)

if not would like to install on my '71 balladeer.

thanks in advance

Glenn

I can't speak on the 24 but the OP24+ in my s771 is great. Very versatile Tons of bass, mids and treble and by adding the phase and mid shift button tones are endless. I really like this preamp.

In fact I tried a CL with the Optima and returned it because I couldn't eq in any bass for the life of my..it was a middepth bowl. I tried a couple of shallow bodied CL's in the store with the Optimas..same deal.

I pick up my s771 and I get a billion tones out of it. I would take it over the Optima any day of the week if you were curious about that one at all. No notch filter though.

For a tuner...get a Sabine contact tuner. Yeah they are $50 but work great, stick to the face of the O and can be removed with no damage. Pop it on the top where the neck meets the body on all wood guitars and it is seamless.

I'd go for it if you can put it in your guitar. Oh I have the thinline pup too and have been happy with it.

I think you would have a problem installing a thinline pickup in the balladeer bridge, because it is made with a wide slot for the original saddle. Why would you want to install a thinline when the original pickup is probably better?
I am not an expert (ex-has been - spurt- a drip under pressure) so I may be wrong about all of the above.

I think this has been discussed before, do a search.

As I re-read your post, since you said it had already been wired passive, it probably had an after market pickup, which means it has a slot that would accept the slimline pickup.

I believe what I said was true, but not for your guitar.
My humble apologies.
