This week I was staying up late on the computer and I was walking through a dark living room. Tripped on a open guitar case and stepped right in the middle of my favorite Ovation. Almost full weigh right on the top and I could hear a sound that didn't make me too hopeful. Couldn't look for about two days. Looked today and no damage. Try that with a Taylor Martin or Gibson.

Glad for no damage. That would be a "guilt trip" destroyed your favorite O!
Thanks for relating it for us, a good reminder to put them in the case, if that is where you keep them, and shut and latch the case, and then put it up!
With all our children gone, it is a temptation to put a guitar in the case, close the lid, but not latch it and leave it on the bed in the my "music room", then I think, what if my wife should come in and move it and the lid comes open and the guitar falls out and is damaged. So I take the extra time to secure it.

I stepped on the top of a Martin C-2 back in '71. It didn't fare so well. Took 30 years to get it fixed.

I hope it turned out alright. Did you check the bracing inside. What model Ovation do you have. Do you have an access panel in the back? If so, take if off and check the braces. If not, get a mirror and check through the sound hole. You did say it made a bad sound. A cracked brace may not show up right away, but years down the line.... :eek:

Once again............who would want anything else. I know, if everyone was the same what a boring place!

But that makes sense............so go buy those Taylors and Martins.........that way there are more O's for me! :)

Serves you right for buying one of the off brand guitars.

I have yet to step on any guitar I had rightfully hanging on the wall!

I did put a ding on my LX when I left it in the unlocked case, up too late, angrily moving stuff from room to room. Trip, roll, splat, arrrggghhh!

Bill;
That isn't that Martin 12-fret I played last week, was it?? If not, what was that? SWEET little guitar . . . perfect guitar for Tull tunes.
The top looked old & worn, but didn't look like it'd been busted & repaired . .

A couple of years ago, I played my SlotHead at my friend's outdoor wedding ceremony. It took place in a large gazebo with a concrete floor. After I'd played my requisite songs, I immediately put the guitar safely back into the case that was lying next to my chair & music stand. After the ceremony was over, and the obligatory hugs, kisses, handsprings and huzzahs were dispensed with, everyone left for the reception. I ran over to my guitar case, grabbed the handle, and snatched it up . . .
The unlatched case lid flew open and the guitar tumbled out . . .
Luckily, it landed "face first" into the padded case lid and stayed there . . . .

. . . had t'sit on the steps of the gazebo for a good couple minutes waiting for my heart to restart.
