My S771 was sitting on my stand and I put a new computer desk near it and it tipped over onto the guitar and stand and I heard a crack....

There is now a solid split in 2 crack the whole length of my top next to the bridge.

This is not good at all. I had looked into a custom colored top to put on this guitar a while back when I sold one of my strats and I know it would be $450 plus and I could probably get a new or slightly used S771 somewhere for that kind of dough.

Problem is, this neck is the greatest neck ever made. Pure black rosewood, tuners that never go out of tune, beatifull dark shiny walnut?? back, the fattest, fastest most comfortable v neck ever. I can't part with it.

I now have to spend..I mean required to live spend...$2300 at least on a hearing aid so I can't afford to fix this guitar.

I have another good acoustic but this Ovation is special.

Got any super glue?

Oh, MAN......this stinks! Keep it, and get it fixed when you can afford it again. If you feel it's that good, it's worth fixing.

feel your pain. shxx happens. don't worry about it. it's just cosmetic, & the scar gives u special memory. look at the positive side. keep it & continue to enjoy it.

My sympathies to you! That is aomething that we all dread.
If it is a crack in the top, it can be pulled together and patched from underneath, provided the crack is not right on top of a brace.
I know that is little consolation right now, but it will allow you to continue to play and enjoy your guitar until you can have the top replaced.

Tomorrow will be a better day.

I bought an Elite 12-string with a crack that ran the entire length of the guitar top. I was able to glue it back together again by myself without any problem. I bought a book called "Guitar Player Repair Guide" and followed the instructions. Since my guitar had an access panel in the back, I was able to get to the back of the top, so to speech. I had cut and then hand sanded a wooden dowel that I used to push the top together by wedging it between the bowel and the top. I worked carpenter's glue into the crack, wedged my dowel into place, then used masking tape to pull the two sides together. I let it sit for a few days and when I remove the tape, the crack held. You can see it from the outside because of the finish, but from the inside you can't see or feel it.

Might be worth a shot. Remember a guitar top starts out as two pieces of wood that get glued together.
