There was a post a week or two ago about the giant price people were bidding up a ME signed guitar.

And now, the rrrest of the story (courtesy the Ovation website):

Ovation Guitars is proud to partner up once again with our friends at M.E.I.N. (Melissa Etheridge Information Network) – this time for a cause very near and dear to Melissa, as well as countless women and their families.

When Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer, Ovation contacted M.E.I.N. to see if there was anything that they could do to support Melissa. M.E.I.N. asked Ovation if they would like to donate a guitar and partner in an auction that would donate all proceeds to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation for breast cancer research. Dr. Love’s foundation is built upon the mission to eradicate breast cancer within ten years. Dr. Love has and continues to push for innovation, education, and excellence in this crucial area of research.

Ovation was honored to participate and proposed another idea to M.E.I.N. Ovation offered to donate guitars to M.E.I.N. so they could sponsor a charity auction drive throughout 2005! Imagine the total dollars that Ovation and M.E.I.N. could raise together, all within a year’s time!!

Needless to say, M.E.I.N., Melissa and her management team loved the idea and we jumped into action. Auctions will feature an Ovation guitar bundled along with unique items and others themed around each of Melissa's album releases. Bidding for the first auction began on December 1st and is currently up to $6,600.00 with four days left until the auction ends!

Stay tuned for more information regarding our involvement with M.E.I.N. and Dr. Susan Love's Research Foundation.

Kudos to Frank and crew!

Cheers! That's just awesome, and incredibly generous!
