Has anyone used one of these:

If so, what's your opinion of them?

It's a creative idea, but likely to appeal only to someone who is using a mic in addition to the piezo. It offers the advantage of allowing the player to mix the two signals to one send to amp or board. But in a pro setting, the soundman is most likely going to be the one mixing two different channels into the overall sound. That's when you want your own sound man at the desk.

To the point: it is a creative device but of limited usefulness, imho. If YOU, however, use a mic for your guitar as well as an onboard pickup it might be a useful preamp.

There is an onboard version of the Blender that was used on higher end Guild Acoustic/Electrics for a number of years. If the sound of the onboard condenser mic could be dialed in well without feedback in a live setting, it added a nice extra color to the sonic palette. But those mics ARE feedback prone in a live high SPL environment.

Ovation offered a similar onboard preamp for a couple of years a decade ago. The response was underwhelming, so it was discontinued.
